And this is what I wrote. Behold the word count! Behold the vague semblance of plot! I had a blast writing this one, and though re-reading it I can certainly find flaws, I'm still pleased with it - something just slightly different from my usual fare =)

Summary: The Marauders are learning the tricks of the trade in a bid to become real cowboys, but there's a rustler on the loose!
Notes: Written for omniocular's AU challenge - prompt: Instead of wizards, MWPP are cowboys and Hogwarts is a ranch. Bonus points if there is rustling. Brokeback references optional. Admittedly there's a bit of het in this, but that's because Lily's an incorrigible flirt and there's really nothing I could do about it.

Notes: This has absolutely nothing to do with the prompt, apart from that it sort of gave me my opening lines.

For the record, I really didn't want to write this. It just sort of... happened, as I was sitting on the train by myself today, with lots of things up in rememberance of the London bombings.

( Remus didn’t know yet if he was a fighter, but as he tightened his grip on Sirius he realised that none of them really had a choice – seven years of the dormitory dynamic had conditioned them into such a strong sense of one for all and all for one that instinct alone would probably drive them to sign up for this. )
