Here's one good thing about the Superbowl, though:

...Wow, um, reason #438 I watched Being Human instead of the Super Bowl? :S

Iowa Republicans seek to exclude LGBT students from the Safe Schools anti-bullying bill (the proposed amendment)

What the frak. I've seen this kind of thing several times now (especially regarding what should be qualified/prosecuted as a hate crime) and it BOGGLES THE MIND. I mean, it doesn't even have anything to do with whether or not homosexuality is immoral. It wouldn't be okay for it to be permissible to beat up/kill/brutally tease people who had been caught, I don't know, stealing or cheating on a test or something, so EVEN IF YOU ARE AGAINST HOMOSEXUALITY, there is absolutely no reason not to outlaw HARMING PEOPLE. I think this is why I never went to public school, actually. I mean, besides the fact that I was reading Narnia at five and Dickens at eight. :/

Also why I want to be a librarian and teach people to tell and listen to each other's stories. Just... freaking love people, with your actions, whether nor not it's convenient or you agree with their choices or you even like them.

I'm so glad people are talking about the Super Bowl ads in this manner. I watched the game with all women, discussed the game primarily with women (a male friend and my dad were the only exceptions), and this is what we're subjected to? Small wonder this was one of the first years I enjoyed the game and the halftime show more than the commercials (which, if we're going with generalizations about gender, is supposed to be the part women are more likely to enjoy anyway).

This all makes me want to write CBS a strongly worded letter/email/something. I don't expect it'll change anything, but it would probably make me feel better.

I already did. Not sure it'll do much good, though. What I really need to do is track down the responsible ad agencies and write them.

That's a great idea. I'd like to think writing to both the network and the ad agencies would be more likely to have an impact, but that's probably optimistic.
