there are many copies, and they have a plan

I'm a couple of days late, but I wanted to wish a really happy birthday to the ever-lovely [livejournal.com profile] sambethe, I hope you had a fantastic day! If you'd like to drop me a prompt, I'd love to write something for you. ♥

Related, in a way, because I'm excited about getting caught up enough to talk to you all about this: I have been watching lots of Battlestar Galactica. I feel like it's taken me a long time to really get into it, but I got 100% sold towards the end of season two and now I am racing through series three whenever I have time.

So. I heart Laura Roslin, and man, Kara is awesome, and oh Boomer, oh Athena, and I feel like Dee and Cally both tend to get shafted storyline-wise but I do especially love Dee, and Racetrack should have more screentime, and Kat had a terrible last episode but I do heart her too. And OMG SIX. <3

I guess there are some guys on the show too? Helo and Tyrol particularly make me really, really happy. Tyrol the union leader! Roslin who totally listens to him and wants to do the right thing tooo! *heart* And I think Helo/Athena is the closest I've got to a ship on this show, because eee. I like both Adamas, but my god I do not care very much about their manpain, seriously. Baltar as well, I like how they write him when we're supposed to hate him, but the show seems to have far, far more time for him than I do.

I'd say there should be more Gaeta, but I hear they're going to make him gay then kill him, so actually I'd rather not get attached. And on that note, it sounds like Razor's main point is to provide us all with some dead, evil lesbians, and so I'll be skipping that one. Any main plot points that arise out of that I should know about? Oh, and I heard about Dee, and that's also fail. :/

But you know what my favourite bit is? THE CYLONS OMG. They're SO COOL. Yeah, okay, I have some sort of robot obsession, whatever. But OMG. I love how they deal with individual vs. collective, and seriously, catching first sight of Cylon society on occupied Caprica was when I started to sit up and take notice of this show. I love how layered they've made them, so much. ROBOTS. :D

Talk BSG to me, guys! I think I've actually spoiled myself for most major plot points to date, but let's not put that to the test, shall we? I've watched through 3x16. Also, what I'd really love are vid recs if you had any to share [again, spoiler notes would be appreciated!] - I've been watching [livejournal.com profile] hollywoodgrrl's stuff and [livejournal.com profile] dualbunny's Kara vids, but I sense there would be an awful lot of good work out there!

Get attached to Gaeta. He'll break your heart :) He's my pet. (And yeah. They made him gay- or bi, depending on how you read a specific line.)

I'm not sure I have much more intelligent to say at the moment, but it's such an awesome series.

He's a pretty boy who's not allowed to have nice things. YOU CAN'T RESIST HIM!!!!!!

Well, I can't anyway :)

Oh, and at some point you MUST read the fic that [livejournal.com profile] sambethe wrote for me, where Gaeta gets sucked into the HP world and becomes friends with Sirius (and Remus, but he's better friends with Sirius.) SO. MUCH. LOVE.

Kat did have a horrible last episode, if for no other reason than I think the writers ignored the part where she was madly in love with Kara.

Obviously there is more than one interpretation of "Razor", and you can argue it either way, but for what it's worth - it was one of my favorite BSG arcs. For me, it made two complex, very gray characters a lot more complex, messed up, and depressing - much like all of BSG. But I didn't see it as being about evil/dead lesbians. Everyone on this show dies or wants to, so I saw the fact that they both end up dead not in terms of their lesbianism so much as this show, which likes to kill people off depressingly. And everyone on this show at some point is *seriously* morally compromised, that's no exception here obviously (the other, straight, main character is just as gray as Cain and Gina). Their relationship, for me, made them more sympathetic, not less so. I felt I understood their actions from S2 more once I understood the betrayal Cain was reacting against and Gina's shattered faith in her world view. Ok, I will stop writing an essay on this matter...

It's up to you obviously as to whether or not you want to give it a chance - independent of Cain and Gina, the original character for the miniseries is (IMHO) really awesome. She also makes Kara look healthy and well adjusted. But just to add in my two cents - while this show has in my opinion, failed to properly integrate the GLBT content that they should have and wanted to, this arc was not a failure. (Gaeta's on the other hand, I think was.)

And I ship Helo/Sharon like a mad thing. Actually, the two of them are sort of the reason I got into vidding...

Ok, my comment is almost as long as your post - sorry!

HELO/ATHENA ♥ ♥ ♥ ♥

CYLONS!! ♥

(That's pretty much all the coherent commentary I can offer. It's very late ... er, early, here.)

I AM SO GLAD THAT SOMEONE ON MY FLIST HAS BEEN WATCHING IT. I'm caught up with the current episode, and I cannot for the life of me remember what happened at that point in the last season, so I don't really have much to say...but yay!

I think Gaeta was bi, which is cool because bi characters are so rare in US TV, particularly male ones. Gaeta's one of my favorites. And I really like Baltar, but I don't think they've written him correctly since the end of the New Caprica stuff. Roslin kicks major behind, though; I want to be her when I grow up. Oh, and I seem to love Starbuck more and more as time goes on. Same with Dee (she's gorgeous).

There's only three more new episodes of the show left before it ends! *sniffle*

Yay for BSG! It's hard to imagine people just getting into this show, lol.

Thank you!!

Give the post, you wanna write me some Kara first time in a viper? Or would you rather me give you something from HP or Who?

+++

EEE!!

That basically sums up my love for this show.

Kara is my messed up BFF. And I love that whole episode with Tyrol as a union leader. That also might be because James Callis kicks so much ass in that episode that I could just eat him up. But, then, I also *heart* Baltar like a mad thing. He just one of those juicy characters that I love to see them write.

OMG, Cylons! How much do they rock in all their weirdness?

And I'm with you, why does Racetrack not get more screen time??? Though, she has broken my heart in S4.

And skip Razor until you are really bored one day and need something on the TV while you mop the floor or something. What a waste of what could have been a fabulous character (Adm. Cain).
