VVC Queer Vidshow: call for suggestions!

So, the VVC organisers have had a moment of madness and given me a vidshow to run. I am going to need your help!

The vidshow is We're Here, We're Queer, and it's pretty much what it says on the tin: vids that are focused on canonically LGBT/queer/trans* characters. Opened up to gen, het, slash, poly, angst, drama, comedy, in fandoms big and small, hopefully there will be a bit of everything!

Friends, lend me your recs in any and all fandoms - Saving Face, Transamerica, Skins, Queer as Folk, Torchwood, The L Word, Grey's Anatomy, Buffy, Ugly Betty, RPF fandoms, anywhere there are queer people! Extra bonus points for people who can point me towards vids focused on queer non-white characters and on genderqueer/trans* characters.

Please feel encouraged to nominate your own vids, and also, should you happen to feel inspired by the theme and think you could make a vid by June 1st, having a premiere or two would be pretty awesome. Official-ish forms will be up on the VVC website shortly, but in the meantime, rec me things! :D

Also, I would seriously love to hear any and all advice on VJing and vidshows at cons from both VJers and audiences, given that I have never attended one much less organised one before!

I am wary of them, so don't have specific recs, but you might check out vids about Admiral Cain from BSG; she's got a huge fandom all her own. And Gaeta, too - there's a great vid about Gaeta's pining for Baltar and his queerness generally, but I didn't seem to save it and can't remember who did it. I AM NOT HELPFUL. I'll look for this, see if I can find it. BSG vids might have a darker tone than what you're looking for (especially given what happens to, y'know, all the queer characters) but maybe that's a good thing, too.

Can I rec your Imagine Me & You vid? :)

Okay, having just gone through my list of vids I have saved on this computer, I am extremely depressed about how many shows there are where people MIGHT AS WELL BE gay, but, of course, aren't. ARGH. Actually, what you really need is this vid that a friend of mine has been making - maybe I'll email her and see how she's coming with it, because it would be perfect for you.

There's a couple of Cain & Gina vids I'm considering, but I am a bit undecided on that front! If I can find that Gaeta vid I may go for that instead for my BSG quota. In general, actually, it is much easier to find vids that are angsty and depressing than vids that are happy and joyful. Sigh!

Also, I wish that someone else would make an Imagine Me & You vid so that I could play it! *attempts to send subliminal messages to the hive mind*

oh buddy, I wish I didn't have 8758947499 obligations right now, or I would definitely make you an Imagine Me & You vid for this panel. And I should've known that the angsty and depressing vids would win out in the end! *fistshake*

I am now doubly committed to getting my pal to finish up her vid about queer ladies so it can find its natural home here.

Just putting kiki_miserychic's O Death on your radar for Cain/Gina if you haven't seen it. Very angsty and depressing and dark but a really freaking good vid.

Oh, it's not nicole_anell's Another Place To Fall, is it? I am downloading it right now to check it out.

oh, that's definitely a good one - I don't think it's the one I was thinking of, but now I think I might be confusing two vids (of which that is one). It's possible I am actually making up a vid. But, Another Place to Fall is great, but it is sort of a slash vid, in that it focuses equally on Gaius (who's not queer) and was made, I'm pretty sure, before Gaeta was canonically queer. So.

Yes, that ended up being my concern as well - I am thinking Asleep in Perfection, that uphill linked to below, might be a better candidate, although I shall continue the search. Anyway, I have just watched a bunch of Gaeta vids in a row and my heart hurts! (Fuck you, show!) I'm going to go watch jarrow's D.E.B.S. vid or something.

Maybe not the one you had in mind, but there's one about Gaeta by irradiatedsoup called Aleep in Perfection which does feature some scenes with Baltar. It's also rather depressing?

And wow, my vid collection probably looks a lot like yours. So sad.
