moar who

You know what, even though this episode had a lot of problems - far too many dicks on that dancefloor, for one, where my wimmens at? - and it wasted so many ideas that had great potential, I didn't hate it. And I didn't hate it because of the epilogue, which I honestly thought was perfect, haters to the left.

I'm not big on the idea that all the characters needed to be hooked up to be happy, or that a wedding and a lottery ticket is a satisfactory end for Donnna, because no - but they *were* happy, they were living their lives, and we can fill in all the missing pieces and make their futures amazing, and I felt like it was such a joyous and sad note to end on, after everything. The Doctor was wrong. He doesn't ruin lives, his companions are more resilient than he could have imagined. I thought it was wonderful - it was a farewell for the viewers as much as for the Doctor, and I was so happy to see my heroes one last time.

It also rammed home the fact that it is the last time for a lot of them, in all probability, and that was really heartbreaking too.

But I am so excited about Martha and Mickey, freelance space adventurers (and even though the 'o hai we're married' was pretty wtf, so many ways to work with that omg, I'm excited - nowhere does it say she isn't married to Tom too, guys! :D). The Rose scene was, surprisingly knowing RTD, gorgeous, and having Joan's granddaughter was pretty inspired. Jack's scene completely destroyed me but it was brilliant.

It was a gracenote, it was fitting, I loved the whole thing. ♥ (But also, WAH! Martha, I don't want you to go! ;_;)

So, yes. These are our characters now, we can work with this, I'm happy.

Also, a poll, because talking to people has made me realise there are actually a plethora of opinions on the subject!

She has to be Susan -- the parallels between the Doctor sacrificing his grandchild and Jack's actions in CoE are just too much for it not to be her, IMO.
