moar who

You know what, even though this episode had a lot of problems - far too many dicks on that dancefloor, for one, where my wimmens at? - and it wasted so many ideas that had great potential, I didn't hate it. And I didn't hate it because of the epilogue, which I honestly thought was perfect, haters to the left.

I'm not big on the idea that all the characters needed to be hooked up to be happy, or that a wedding and a lottery ticket is a satisfactory end for Donnna, because no - but they *were* happy, they were living their lives, and we can fill in all the missing pieces and make their futures amazing, and I felt like it was such a joyous and sad note to end on, after everything. The Doctor was wrong. He doesn't ruin lives, his companions are more resilient than he could have imagined. I thought it was wonderful - it was a farewell for the viewers as much as for the Doctor, and I was so happy to see my heroes one last time.

It also rammed home the fact that it is the last time for a lot of them, in all probability, and that was really heartbreaking too.

But I am so excited about Martha and Mickey, freelance space adventurers (and even though the 'o hai we're married' was pretty wtf, so many ways to work with that omg, I'm excited - nowhere does it say she isn't married to Tom too, guys! :D). The Rose scene was, surprisingly knowing RTD, gorgeous, and having Joan's granddaughter was pretty inspired. Jack's scene completely destroyed me but it was brilliant.

It was a gracenote, it was fitting, I loved the whole thing. ♥ (But also, WAH! Martha, I don't want you to go! ;_;)

So, yes. These are our characters now, we can work with this, I'm happy.

Also, a poll, because talking to people has made me realise there are actually a plethora of opinions on the subject!

She had red hair! So I thought she might be Donna when she becomes an awesome timelady. Also, when Wilf asked him who she was, the Doctor looked at Donna.

But now I have no idea.

Hee!I am with you with thinking the Mickey and Martha was lovely and am so glad I was not the only one who immediately decided Tom was still around and definitely still involved. :D :D :D (Of course, I came out of Sherlock Holmes as well thinking the only logical conclusion was a foursome :D)

Plus I sort of like the idea that this is at least a couple of years in the future and they've put a whole team together (obv with Donna and some of the SJA kids) - like a new Torchwood just very, very freelance. :D

All of which makes me exceptionally happy.

And I loved the Joan's granddaughter scene too - because it works both ways, it lets us/the Doctor know she was fine and it lets the grandaughter know that Joan wasn't mad.

Anyhow I loved all the little bits of the epilogue, they brought the happy for me and I'm sad they annoyed others though I totally understand why.

Donna is financing everything and being the brains now she's got the Doctor's mind back and nicely under control. You'd be surprised what experimental medical research can acheive when combined with a triple rollover win on the lottery. ;D

Alas I am not writing. I'm trying to limit my fanfic this year in the hope that I actually get something original finished (I keep getting plot bunnied by space pirates - they are sneaky bastard). Trying to stick to one thing a month, mostly fests, and this month is already all taken with a ridiculous cross over.

But somebody should totally be writing this. :D

I usually roll my eyes every time Rose comes back (AGAIN!), but I thought that first-last meeting between them was WONDERFUL. So perfect and understated and lovely. He's full of sadness but she's full of joy and hope - sort of like when they first meet.

(I also rather like the idea that Martha is collecting a boy-harem of space-warriors for her very own. *g*)

I loved Martha kicking arse although being married to Mickey was a bit out of left field. But I thought the Woman was Rose because of the music and it sounding like Rose's theme. And I Did Not Want.

I was too busy going WTF when I was thinking it was Rose to listen properly.

Hadn't thought of the woman being Donna until I saw this, although definitely possible -- the 'lost a long time ago' bit made me think of Susan, but it could also apply to Romana (who was after all in a different universe). Then again, maybe River Song, Jenny ... Given that she (IIRC) appeared as part of the Time Lords council, I'm still thinking Romana is most likely. (There was another person there who was not in agreement with the Council, and I don't think we saw their face? Might just be a plot hook to be used later, I suppose.)

Weird two-parter, of course, but on the whole more effective than some of the other season-endings, and leaves a lot of questions to be answered in forthcoming episodes!

She has to be Susan -- the parallels between the Doctor sacrificing his grandchild and Jack's actions in CoE are just too much for it not to be her, IMO.

Far too many dicks on that dancefloor, it must be said. But, I got to see Martha and she was kick-ass (and totally in a three-way marriage with Tom and Mickey. Tom was hiding just around that rock, you know, about to charge in.)

Oh, Jack. Just, that brief scene did me in. He looked so bereft.

I didn't even think of Susan as a possibility but that sounds like a great idea. I also think as someone said above that Donna would be a great idea. Though she had the Rosey Doctor theme music which was a bit confusing.
