The Korra showrunners have both posted about the finale now and it's amazing and beautiful.

There is a thing that I have wished for a long time, in terms of on-screen queer relationships. And that's a story where you have two characters who are their own people first, neither introduced as the other's love interest, maybe neither initially introduced as queer even, who gradually end up being in a relationship as organically as het couples are written in these things.
I wasn't expecting Korra to be the one to do the thing, but I am so so pleased. What a perfect and beautiful ending.
