vidukon show: same song, different source [recs please!]
The show I'm putting together for Vidukon this year is called Same Song, Different Source, which is just what it sounds like. I want take a look at the different ways vidders use the same audio to different effects and how different the tone of a vid can be based on editing choices/lyric interpretation etc.
This is a harder one that usual to solicit recs for, but I thought I'd give it a go! I'd love recs for pairs of vids that use the same song (can definitely be different covers/instrumental version etc) where there's some kind of interesting contrast, whether in the source, the mood, the interpretation of the lyrics, etc. Alternatively, recs for single vids that use a song in an unusual way could be helpful, if it's likely the song has been vidded multiple times.
The more the merrier, so any ideas that spring to mind, I'd love to hear them! Thanks!
(I'm just going to go back to having a crisis over how to pick only two Handlebars vids.)

Also: Tonight I'm Fucking You (X-men vid by kuwdora) and Tonight (I'm F**king You) (White Collar vid by talitha78).
I didn't know there are other Handlebars vids other than the fantastic Doctor Who one by flummery. Would you mind linking me to whichever other ones you're considering? I'm curious now!

I would also add that there was apparently a "everybody make a jenny from the block" vid thing, that led to Chuck From the Burbank by kuwdora? I'm not sure who else released one though.

Speaking of hollywoodgrrl, one of my favorite alternate takes on a song is Boulevard of Broken Songs by hollywoodgrrl (Doctor Who) and Shati (Buffy).
I know Wistful Fever (Fabella) vidded All That I Am to Harry Potter, and Obsessive24 did it to a Chinese soap opera whose name escapes me. But both were extremely good, and very different.
Not sure how you feel about mashups and remixes, but I've vidded a couple of alt versions of a song like that in part because I didn't want to step on the toes of a vidder who worked with the original song. And that ended up leading me to a version that worked better for my fandom/idea. Bop Radar and I both vidded Clint Eastwood, Anoel and I both vidded Just Dance, and Dierdrecee and I both vidded Thrift Shop.

You have a lot of great recommendations here, but I want to add
Glass Coffin by giandujakisss (http://giandujakiss.livejournal.com/?skip=20&tag=my%20vids) for VR.5 &
Waking World by Di Wey (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_uuJePU2-Yk) for Morgana & Guinevere in Merlin
They really do use the song to vastly different effects. Generally I find YouTube is a great resource for finding multiple vids & canons set to the same song.
Good luck!

1) welcome to the new age by kilia93 Sherlock Holmes (Sherlock BBC + Guy Ritchie Sherlock) totally doing nifty things with two source time-travel echoes
2) Mass Effect Radioactive by flaming 8 studios (Mass Effect) on the nose, but sometimes you need on the nose
3) BatFamily // Radioactive by NightArrowDC (multi-source Batfamily) to me it reads as a critique of Batman - he's the one who is radioactive - but I'm possibly reading too much into it)
4) Radioactive | The Incredible Hulk by Irene Snufkin (Ed Norton Incredible Hulk) because a) Bruce Banner and b) any set of radioactive vids must necessarily include a totally literal interpretation and the Spidey ones I've seen are all boring
5) RadioAkshun ( Evangelion AMV ft Radioactive) Anime Boston/Sakura-Con Winner by IleiaAMVs (Evangelion) because it is gorgeously edited wow
6) Godzilla Tribute by Clinton Bigelow (Godzilla) because a) Godzilla and b) the entire intro is mushroom clouds so like. there you are. If mushroom clouds don't appeal, chuverdragon made another strong contender in the Godzilla category
7) Some NBA Radioactive vids! Oh man there are so many it's ridic. I <3 this one because Steph Curry.
Someday I will do an all-Radioactive vid recs list or vid show. There will be a lot of Radioactive in it.
