Avengers movieverse squee

So I finally watched Captain America tonight (short version: EEE I LOVE EVERYONE) and am thus caught up on nearly all of the Avengers films, hurray.

So, lend me your Captain America & Avengers movieverse fanwork recs! I would love Steve character studies because hello, narrative kinks of personal transformation and displacement and quiet loss. (Oh, Steve!) Shipping wise, anything works for me - I know Steve/Tony is super popular but given I don't read the comics I may need a little convincing still. All I know is he is super adorable with both Bucky (I need to catch up on [personal profile] musesfool's fic there) and Peggy.

Speaking of, PEGGY CARTER. GIVE ME YOUR RECS. Actually, yes, any and all women-centric Avengers fanworks will be cherished deeply. Gen, femslash, het, anything you like. I love them all so much and am sad that so few of them will show up in the Avengers film next year.

SUPERHEROES YAY.

Steve/Tony, but does wonderful things with Steve working out how to live in this century.

Also, a rec I got from [personal profile] musesfool, Siria's no rapunzel she about Peggy.

Total seconding Tomorrow Belongs to Me. I loved Captain America and in particular Steve's character - Tomorrow Belongs to Me is Steve/Tony (like you, I'm indifferent to that) but the reason I love the story is that unlike most of the Steve/Tony fic I've seen, it focuses a lot on Steve's character.

[personal profile] meri 2012-01-20 01:18 am (UTC)(link)
Yes, this. There's a lot of Tony focus in the Steve/Tony fandom but after watching the Captain America movie I wanted All Steve All The Time. This story totally satisfies that.

This legitimately made me tear up. I love Steve *so much* it's ridiculous.

I am so tagging this entry so I can see all the recs.

Captain America is so sweet. And sad. And sweet! Steve is just so nice in all the best ways.

[personal profile] trelkez's Sorrow is mindblowing and breathtaking and heartbreaking and all those other noun-verbing words. It DOES things to me.

(....why is this my only Captain America icon? Except the one with the Red Skull, which seems even LESS appropriate.)

rubynye's Steadfast (http://rubynye.livejournal.com/610607.html): Bucky Barnes/Steve Rogers, Peggy Carter/Steve Rogers mentioned. Sweet and beautiful.

I see other people have recced Tomorrow Belongs to Me; [personal profile] valtyr's Some Sunny Day is another Steve/Tony which gives particularly good Steve. Oh, and Team Building Activities. She is one of my new favorites, obviously.

BlackeyedGirl's Counts To and From is about the one-year anniversary of Steve waking up in the future. I would say gen but with Steve/Tony subtext.

misura's Four People Who Never Fed Steve Rogers a Sandwich ends up kinda Steve/Tony, but it's got great Steve & Bucky and Steve & Peggy and Steve & Howard interactions; her A Star-Spangled Plan is Steve/Bucky and rhythm 'n' blues 'n' fondue is Steve/Peggy.

Steve/Tony with really good Steve: plingo_kat's buy the brooklyn bridge, storm-petrel's The modern world is awesome and so are you, sheafrotherdon's Cold Making Warmth.

boombingbang's Magnetic series is Steve/Pepper/Tony, with the first and last probably having the most Steve; her Pepper is also really compelling.

tsukinofaerii's Something Different is about the dissolution of Pepper's relationship with Tony and the formation of her relationship with Natasha (which I liked in part because it reversed what I kept running into, Steve/Tony with background Pepper/Natasha).

likeadeuce's Daedalus is comicsverse, which I wouldn't ordinarily recommend to you, but I thought the characterization actually worked really well and really interestingly as movieverse. And the take on Steve newly out of the ice is (a) fairly unusual for what I've seen in fandom so far; (b) seems a lot like where the Avengers trailer indicates the movie will go.

Clint/Darcy is becoming one of my favorite pairings (crack pairings?) of the Avengers movieverse fandom. So much love for Darcy. Darcy/Steve also makes me happy. I haven't read some of those stories so now I have some to enjoy this weekend, thank you!

Sorry about the lazy reply but here's my Steve Rogers tag over on Pinboard. Lots of ships since I read all over the place.

And my Peggy Carter tag as well.

and also

My Captain America tag on pinboard - mostly Steve/Bucky, some Peggy, some gen, and my Avengers tag, what doesn't overlap with the Cap tag is mostly Darcy-centric, though there is some Natasha fic in there too, I think.

There was some brilliant Steve/Bucky in Yuletide this year; The More Things Change, The Same, but More (both kind of focus on the change in Steve), don't have to know the words and It Wakes the Seeds, which is a Civil War AU. (American Civil War, not Marvel Civil War.)

Also I may be bookmarking this and coming back to see if anybody leaves Jane/Darcy recs. I ship them so hard, yet I seem to be the only one :(

Once upon a time I read a Pepper/Tony piece that I am currently having a brainfart as to the author's name, so I couldn't even begin to find a link for you. But, uh, sam-storyteller/copperbadge just posted a Steve/Tony Arms and the Man that was cool.
