Doctor Who 6x12

+ I was sad not to see more of Sophie. And the black characters dying was deeply predictable and frustrating.

+ So, setting some things aside, I really enjoyed this one! AND I HAVE A LOT OF FEELINGS.

+ Oh, Doctor. You try so hard to be done saving them but you just can't. I'm also curious as to who else he said goodbye to - perhaps just other people from this regeneration, like Nasreen and Liz Ten and Vincent and Canton. If no one else writes that fic for me, I may have to.

+ I really loved how this wasn't overblown angst but just a sense of melancholy between all the running around. It's just what I wanted. And the end, with the envelopes and the hat and 'one last trip'. My heart.

+ PONDS CAMEO. AHHHH OMG. THEY LOOKED HAPPY. And Amy designing her own perfume line is a lovely idea. (I assumed it was that rather than solely modelling? Because who else would come up with that name and tagline?) And Petrichor, oh gosh. <3333 For the girl who's tired of waiting. AMY POND I LOVE YOU THE MOST. a;lsdjsa And her signing an autograph for a little girl was pleasing close to my headcanon of her as a children's author.

+ And then the end, with River. Doctor River Song, oh wow. And the fact she had no idea who Kovarian was, and her scared, vulnerable face. Such a change, and really awful, and that last shot. :((( BE OKAY, MY PONDS. ALL OF YOU NEED TO BE OKAY.

+ ... so is it Saturday yet?

On the on hand, they're casting actors of colour. \o/ On the other hand, they're still killing too large a majority of those now characters of colour. *headdesk* (Oh, George! I liked you!)

But as for the rest of the episode, I really loved it. It was fun, wacky and serious in turns, with fantastic dialogue, great characters, and the emo wasn't turned up to eleven like it was when Ten was going to his "death." I loved all of the scenes with Matt acting with the kids and the baby. (I WANT MY BEDROOM CEILING TO LOOK LIKE THAT!!!!!)

Over at ye olde Gallifrey Base, it has good ratings in the poll, but the comments are full of complaints about "the power of love" defeating the Cybermen. Defeating something that tries to extract emotion with an emotional overload makes perfect sense to me, especially since this bunch of Cybermen were shown to be extremely low on power. (Or else the whole of Colchester would have been toast by that point.)

PONDS CAMEO!! And that ending killed me dead! River!!!! Frances Barber is just fantastic as Madam K! Eeeeee!

On the one hand, can't wait for Saturday! On the other, LAST EPISODE WOE!!! But at least it's a shorter wait until Christmas. (Except then it will be a looooooong wait until next series. HOW WILL I COPE??? Easter Special?? Maybe? Please?)

Also, even though Fear Her isn't exactly a favorite episode, how awesome would it be to have David dress up in his Ten outfit and carry the torch next year for a part of the relay? Come on England Olympic Committee - MAKE IT HAPPEN!
