Doctor Who 6x12
+ I was sad not to see more of Sophie. And the black characters dying was deeply predictable and frustrating.
+ So, setting some things aside, I really enjoyed this one! AND I HAVE A LOT OF FEELINGS.
+ Oh, Doctor. You try so hard to be done saving them but you just can't. I'm also curious as to who else he said goodbye to - perhaps just other people from this regeneration, like Nasreen and Liz Ten and Vincent and Canton. If no one else writes that fic for me, I may have to.
+ I really loved how this wasn't overblown angst but just a sense of melancholy between all the running around. It's just what I wanted. And the end, with the envelopes and the hat and 'one last trip'. My heart.
+ PONDS CAMEO. AHHHH OMG. THEY LOOKED HAPPY. And Amy designing her own perfume line is a lovely idea. (I assumed it was that rather than solely modelling? Because who else would come up with that name and tagline?) And Petrichor, oh gosh. <3333 For the girl who's tired of waiting. AMY POND I LOVE YOU THE MOST. a;lsdjsa And her signing an autograph for a little girl was pleasing close to my headcanon of her as a children's author.
+ And then the end, with River. Doctor River Song, oh wow. And the fact she had no idea who Kovarian was, and her scared, vulnerable face. Such a change, and really awful, and that last shot. :((( BE OKAY, MY PONDS. ALL OF YOU NEED TO BE OKAY.
+ ... so is it Saturday yet?

Also RIVER. She only just got her doctorate! Her little face! I want her to have some agency already omg her faaaaace :( *HOLDS HER FOREVER* (Also my theory that it couldn't be River in the spacesuit because she didn't remember it is actually negated in canon in a way that makes sense, you have no idea how happy that makes me.) I CANNOT WAIT FOR NEXT WEEK WHY DO I HAVE TO WAIT FOR NEXT WEEK

Oh my goodness. I loved the tone of the episode so much. Light-hearted with a good dose of melancholy but, like you said, no overblown angst. I loved Craig and Stormy and also wished for more Sophie. (Why was Eleventy so keen to avoid her? Meaningful?)
POOOOOOOOOONDS. I'm so glad they looked happy. When the little girl asked for Amy's autograph, I had to think really hard. "Aww, because she's her favorite author! Wait...is that...was that on the show? Or in a fic? I think it was fic but I loved it so much I can see it in my head?" But even though they are happy, I really need The Doctor to be able to be a part of their lives.
And RIVER! Little scared River, do not like!

I can't wait for next week. I just can't.

YES!! OMG YES TIMES FIVE!
At first I thought she was a kid's author too! An author who makes her own perfume? Totally possible! Or has perfume made for her best selling book series about a girl who was tired of waiting for her prince and decided to go fight monsters and slay dragons?

I wish Amy was a children's author, it makes so much sense! But the ad made me wibble anyway.
This was a v sentimental episode, but I actually kind of liked that: a nice change of pace from horror and/or action. And I have a lot of love for that War of the Worlds type trope, where humanity's human-ness - a baby crying - defeats the evil aliens.
And I actually thought the companion/partner moment, much as it was played for comedy, was also Meaningful in that way Moff likes. OH THE POWER DYNAMICS, THEY FASCINATE ME SO.

AGH. I actually thought that was what it was and got really excited and then saw the modeling campaign and perfume and sort of deflated.
Agreed about the black characters (seriously, Doctor Who? Ugh). I love, love, loved Matt Smith + baby though. SO FREAKING ADORABLE.

Yeah, that was old the first time, but... seriously? Sigh.
Other than that, PONDS. OH MY GOD PONDS. MY HEART. And when Craig gave him the Stetson, and he took the envelopes, and when he talked to the baby, er, excuse me, Stormageddon, and just... everything. And RIVER. Now my ridiculous River story is even longer. D: I NEED ALL THE PONDS TO BE OKAY.

But as for the rest of the episode, I really loved it. It was fun, wacky and serious in turns, with fantastic dialogue, great characters, and the emo wasn't turned up to eleven like it was when Ten was going to his "death." I loved all of the scenes with Matt acting with the kids and the baby. (I WANT MY BEDROOM CEILING TO LOOK LIKE THAT!!!!!)
Over at ye olde Gallifrey Base, it has good ratings in the poll, but the comments are full of complaints about "the power of love" defeating the Cybermen. Defeating something that tries to extract emotion with an emotional overload makes perfect sense to me, especially since this bunch of Cybermen were shown to be extremely low on power. (Or else the whole of Colchester would have been toast by that point.)
PONDS CAMEO!! And that ending killed me dead! River!!!! Frances Barber is just fantastic as Madam K! Eeeeee!
On the one hand, can't wait for Saturday! On the other, LAST EPISODE WOE!!! But at least it's a shorter wait until Christmas. (Except then it will be a looooooong wait until next series. HOW WILL I COPE??? Easter Special?? Maybe? Please?)
Also, even though Fear Her isn't exactly a favorite episode, how awesome would it be to have David dress up in his Ten outfit and carry the torch next year for a part of the relay? Come on England Olympic Committee - MAKE IT HAPPEN!

Yes, absolutely. But I think that's coming.

Yes, I like that! It would be lovely if the Doctor could start seeing Amy as an equal rather than a child to protect.

Can we have Eleven and babies again soon? With less racefail next time? That would be lovely.
