glass_icarus beat me to the punch, but:

Toph sits in the shadow of a firebender-run tea shop in Ba Sing Se, in a time of peace, and the world is full of wonders and she has a family, and there is nothing she can't do, and no cages anywhere.

My mind immediately went to this. And that whole fic really, which was the perfect tag to that finale and everything I like about that whole series. That's a much better final scene for the girls than the ones they got, and they deserve it. <3

Hurray, thank you! I love most of the finale a lot, but I really agree that I was left wanting more character resolution than we got.
