Hee! Do I have to watch Doctor Who first? 'Cause I was planning to watch that this past summer, but then I got distracted by Gilmore Girls. It's a much more daunting task to have to watch all of DW before I can start TW. And I probably won't have the time until next summer. ('CAUSE I'M GONNA BE IN ENGLAND FOR THE SPRING SEMESTER AND PLAN TO BE ENTIRELY DISTRACTED WITH ENGLAND WHILE I'M THERE. *is excited*)

Short answer: no. Long answer: Torchwood Series 1 takes place after DW Series 2, crosses over with DW S3 a bit, then picks up for S2 afterwards. I think some parts of S2 especially make a lot more sense with the appropriate Who knowledge, but you could always just catch up on the appropriate episodes. My canon purist self does say you should watch everything in order, but I think we can safely ignore that.

Also, ooh! Coming over this way? Whereabouts are you headed?

That's... nicely confusing, haha. And I'm usually insistent upon strictly following canon, but I just don't know when I'd have the time.

Oh, seriously. But Torchwood's pretty simple compared to the epic, multi-format sprawling mess that is Doctor Who canon, heh. We make our own fun!

And that's very exciting, Canterbury's a lovely part of the world. I don't know a great deal about Kent uni, I must say, but I know I've heard good things.

Haha. Yes. Just reading what my flist has to say about Doctor Who confuses me. (I did watch the pilot ep though, and man, any show that starts with animated mannequins gets my vote of approval.)

It seems like a cool place. Good location, too, for traveling! I'm so ridiculously excited. I've only ever been to Canada, and I could still see the US from where I was, so going all the way to Europe is going to be amazing. Whereabouts are you in the UK, if you don't mind me asking?

Oh, I do love the first episode very much. Mannequins! Sekrit alien takeover under the London Eye! Fun stuff.

I'm based up in Yorkshire during term time, although just north of London in the holidays.

London! \o/ I'm kind of freaked out about how expensive everything's going to be though. I worked like a madwoman this summer to make spending money, but still. It's gonna be rough. (I have a friend in London for the whole year though, who is SO EXCITED because he can get a part-time job and make way more money than he'd be making in the US. Y'know. Comparatively.) I'm trying to cut back on spending for this present semester though, and so far it's working okay. I want to do as much traveling as I can once I'm over there - dunno when, if ever, I'll make it back to Europe, so I want to see everything, haha.

Same, same. And well, on account of not really having excess money for these things I think I'd have to go for a standard ticket - personally, the only thing that looks really tempting about the higher bands is having reserved seating or whatnot. Photos etc I'm happy enough to waive.

I really do love the uninhibitedness of it all - not just all the making out, but the way they all seem to be really at ease with their fans (and we are crazy, to be fair, I'd be terrified of us) and more than happy to give up their time in a really awesome way. And, you know, the making out too, plus all the filth and general hilarity. It's so delightfully British. :D
