There's no one but couples on the beach now, strolling along the shoreline and so wrapped up in each other than the privacy charms Remus is tempted to cast seem quite unnecessary, even more so when Sirius reaches a hand up to cup his neck, drawing Remus down to meet him on the sand with kisses that taste of salt and summer and freedom, until there's no one else in the world.

"Oh, you know, first person you had a real, proper crush on. If you say Moony, by the way, fair warning that I may hurl."
"Hey! I'm right here."
"Oh c'mon, Prongs, like you wouldn't say Evans - her long flowing locks, pretty eyes, those supple--"
"Also right here. Watch it, Black."
"Anyway. Going to answer the question or what?"
"Why do you care?"
"Because you still haven't said!"
"He's got a point there, this must be good."
"Yeah, cheers, Wormtail, good to know you've got my back there-- oh, stop looking at me like that, all of you! Fine, fine, if it satisfies your twisted little curiosity... anyone remember Professor Browning, second year?"
"You're joking. Seriously? That defence teacher with all that hair?"
"It wasn't just hair, all the Muggles were into that sort of thing at the time, back me up here, Lily."
"Actually... now you mention it, he was pretty cool."
"Pads, wasn't he like forty-odd or something?"
"Um, well, yeah, there was that. Anyway! Moving swiftly on - Peter, fancy spilling the beans, eh?"

The TARDIS whirred at him reproachfully as he took off.
"What? Oh don't give me that. She said she didn't want to come!"
The ship was not appeased.
"What do you expect me to do? Can't exactly kidnap her. Well, I could, but that wouldn't be very nice now, would it?"
She opened a time vortex window with a sad little noise, and the Doctor sighed. "Come on then old girl, just you and me, off again."
It had been nice, though, seeing that look that they got again, the look where suddenly the universe had exploded outwards in their minds, dazzling with wonders they'd never heard of before. And Rose had been fantastic, really, unpredictable in that terribly human way, bright and brave and spunky -- wait, did they actually say that on Earth these days? -- and it really had been a very long time since he'd had someone's hand to hold as he chased monsters across the galaxies. But she still had a life back there, and he wasn't going to tear that from her if she wasn't willing to let go.
All the same --
The TARDIS paused in mid-flight, which was terrible for the engines as a matter of fact. "She'll probably only say no again, you know," the Doctor warned. But she set a course back to London with all due haste, circuits happily whizzing as she did so, and he grinned. "Well, I suppose it's worth another shot."
They thudded back to Earth, and he creaked the door open, relieved to find her still standing there, staring at him with that freshly-minted wonder in her eyes he'd so missed seeing.
"By the way, did I mention? It also travels in time."
Rose ran headlong at him, and the TARDIS leaped into action almost before the doors shut, with a speed and energy he remembered from the days when she was a very young ship indeed. As Rose beamed at him, brimming with all that humanity, the Doctor couldn't help but grin back, wondering if he hadn't just lost a few hundred years himself.

"Lily, what are those."
"Vases, dear."
"Right. Why do we need vases?"
"For our house. For flowers."
"Right."
James sighed, and Lily looked at him askance for a moment before she started laughing. "You poor lamb, the look on your face!"
"I just--" James waved an arm around uselessly. "I really don't care, you know, about vases. I just care about you," he murmured, wrapping his arms around her waist, "and the baby, and everything else can go hang."
"Mmm," Lily said appreciatively. "Although, are you trying to be romantic just to get out of furniture shopping?"
He groaned. "You got me. Seriously, though, why is doing domestic this complicated? I mean, look at Remus and Sirius, they seem to have been domesticated for bloody ages and I don't remember them having to faff around with vases, of all things."
"We're not them."
James chuckled. "Well, yes, I do realise that."
"And when you get down to it, they are still two blokes living in a flat," she said, turning to face him, "however epically in love or whatever they might be. We, on the other hand, have got more fish to fry," she continued, running a hand down the ever-growing curve of her stomach. "Still. If it makes you happy, we don't have to look at any more vases today."
"How about looking at one of those model Quidditch sets?"
"Yeah, dream on, Potter."

"My fault?" Martha spluttered. "How is this my fault?"
"If you'd just given her what she wanted!"
"What?" Martha shot her a look. "I can't just magic medicine out of the air, there was nothing I could do!"
"Oh, I don't know," Tosh said darkly, "your lot seem pretty good at making things disappear."
"Well, why don't you try next time, might as well play at being a doctor for all the good it'll do."
Tosh was about to come up with some kind of retort when a guard went before them to fling upon a heavy door and throw them both into a dark cell.
"Ow!"
"Oof, right, ok-- ah, I can't move my arms properly, let me just--"
"Yeah, right, that better?"
"A little. Wait. Is that your--"
"Hand, yes. Oh. And that's--"
"Yeah."
"Ah. Right. Sorry. Not an awful lot of space here."
"Don't worry about it. Here, wait, I'll wriggle around a little and--"
"Oh!"
"... That didn't improve matters, did it."
"Err - no. No, not really."
"Sorry."
"That's ok."
"You know, we really could be stuck here for a while. We'll just have to make the best of it, I suppose."
"I guess we will. Bloody, bloody UNIT..."

"Bargain Hunt?" Crowley asked.
Aziraphale winced as David Dickinson grinned toothily at them on screen. "Yours."
"X Factor?"
Aziraphale looked more pained. "Ours, I'm sorry to say. We rather thought it would be good for promoting self-confidence and discovering one's full potential. It didn't go quite as we'd hope."
"Yes, well, my lot might have stepped in quite early on," Crowley admitted. He continued flicking through the endless channels. "Ah!" he said, brightening up as Doctor Who obligingly began to air. "Have you seen this one yet?"
Aziraphale shook his head, smiling. "Ah, the Doctor. One of our better influences on popular culture - fighting evil, righting injustice, promoting tolerance and learning and heroism..." he trailed off, eyes widening as the planet-sized library loomed on screen. "How many books?" he murmured reverentially.
Crowley laughed to himself, watching as the angel rapidly got wrapped up in the fantasy world. "You don't think he's something of a false idol? Russell T Davies seems to have been making the Doctor into quite a Messiah-like figure."
"Oh, well, we all get a little carried away sometimes. No, his final judgement really rests in how he handles his last few episodes in charge. Especially with Rose's imminent return..." he sighed a little wistfully. "This episode's written by the new fellow stepping in, isn't it? That Mr Moffat?"
"Yeah, he's got G-- deity-like genius, so they say."
"Hmm."
The episode continued apace, and Azirphale's eyes widened as the mysterious Profesor Song began to speak, swallowed suspiciously hard as Miss Evangalista played out her last, held his breath as the shadows advanced on Proper Dave, and nigh-on gasped as Dr. Moon began to turn the young girl's world upside down. He also jumped a few inches into the air as Crowley encouraged the table lamp to start moving shadows across the angel's lap, but that was another matter.
After the episode reached its thrilling conclusion, the Doctor and his intrepid friends seemingly trapped beyond all salvation, and Donna Noble trapped in terrible peril, Aziraphale turned to Crowley, mouth a little agape. "Oh," he said faintly. "Steven Moffat is most certainly one of yours."
The demon grinned.

This must be rec'd to all and sundry!

Re: Note: Doctor Who 4x08 spoilers
Which is why I think you should do a series of them. I always said you had an excellent ear for dialogue, I think you'd do wonderfully!
Just imagine the possibilities... "Aziraphale's First Kebab", "Cup Final Day", "A Night at The Opera"... The list is endless
And of course, you'd have to do "A&C go Conventioneering" as well ;)
Re: Note: Doctor Who 4x08 spoilers
Brilliant. I was giggling madly all the way through that. Utterly superb. Top marks! :)

Lily sat in the Tonks' safehouse, Harry wrapped in blankets and sleeping peacefully next to her. James was tapping a hand against his leg in restless frustration, hardly able to sit still.
"We'll hear if they need us," Lily said, "Sirius will keep us in the loop."
James took a breath to say something, then shook his head. "I'm going to go see if Ted needs any help with the tea."
He walked through to the kitchen, and Lily sighed, looking across to Andromeda. "I'm sorry. He's never been a very patient person."
Andromeda nodded. "It's all right, I understand."
Lily stroked the top of Harry's head, soft hair covering such a fragile, precious thing. "How do you do it?" she asked suddenly. "Be a parent, in a war."
"By accepting that a heart rate constantly above normal levels is pretty much a given," said Andromeda with a wry smile. "It's not really a case of how, though. You just do it."
"Mummy?" The tousled and sleepy head of one Nymphadora appeared around the living room door. "Why's everyone up?"
"You should be in bed," Andromeda told her without chiding, pulling her daughter into her lap. "Now look, see, we've got a very special guest with us tonight - say hello to Harry."
Dora leaned over, cooing at the baby with great interest, and Andromeda touched Lily's arm. "You do it because looking at them reminds us what it is we're striving for at all."

"All right there?" Remus asked from the doorway.
Sirius stood up, suddenly smiling. "Remember this?"
Remus took the parchment, and read it with widening eyes. "I can't believe I actually wrote this."
"Could have been worse," Sirius told him, "I remember James used to pen sonnets to Lily from time to time.
Remus laughed, eyes scanning further down the parchment and wincing at particularly badly-written moments. "James was always a pretty good baseline of comparison for how things could always be worse."
Sirius took the letter back and put it carefully on the desk. "I guess it's not all bad, you know, being back here. Sometimes good things show up."

And possibly Remus/Sirius (because, let's face it, you own these two) and misunderstandings resulting in some sort of happy ending.
