Doctor Who 5x03

Okay, that didn't exactly have me bouncing off the walls with squee, but an hour spent with Amy'n'Eleven is never an hour wasted, so. Let's talk about the bits that I liked!

+ The Doctor trying to fend off the Daleks with a jammy dodger, hahahaha, it's that kind of ridiculous/epic juxtaposition that makes me heart this show so much.

+ Amy! I love how quickly she adjusts to situations and how much she seems to want to grab every experience with both hands and really throw herself into things, with very little regard for herself. Also, her smarts are really quite wonderful.

+ SPITFIRES IN SPACE. THAT IS SO AWESOME OMG. :D

+ Aw, robot scientist guy! He was delightful. *pets him*

+ Eleven continues to be utterly charming. <3

+ NEXT WEEK IT IS MOFFTIEM AGAIN AND THERE IS RIVER AND ALSO WEEPING ANGELS OMG YAY. \o/

I was so, so, so wishing that Katee Sackhoff would mysteriously appear. Because that is how my brain works. But: space + pilots clearly = Starbuck, right? (Oh lord, I don't even know what to think re. how well Kara would receive the Doctor.)

I'm really, really curious about the woman who was weeping because her boy had got shot down. Like she was a deliberate loose end or foreshadowing or -- I don't know, something. But why else would we have our attention drawn to her several times despite her not having anything to do with the real plot?

AMY. I AM SO IN LOVE WITH HER, HONESTLY. I love how she goes from fierce to tender in a moment if she needs to be, and yes, the way she hurls herself into experiences, so lovely. ♥

Also, HOW AMAZING IS IT THAT LIKE EVERY OTHER EPISODE IS A MOFFISODE. I used to daydream about a world like this. :D

a jammy dodger - that's what that was! i was like "is that a cookie?" and my mom was all "no, it looks like a button"
and then he ate it!

Have to say not impressed - it was a bit of a contrived way to get the Daleks back in he picture. Amy was a bit, well none really, I expected a bit more vivaciousnes from her tbh.
I thought the Dr was chanelling Peter Davidson in places.

Felt a bit empty at the end :(

DH thinks that Amy is looking like a protitute in that outfit, I adore her legs but have to agree she didn't look as though she should be taken seriously.
And Spitfires in space - in less than 10 minutes? Pilots not frreaking out - sorry to implausible for me..

So, like this? This? This? If I wasn't too scared to google the general internet for prostitutes I could get a bunch of pictures and say "pick out the filthy whore". Has your DH ever left the house in summer? Coz I can guarantee that plenty of nice young women who don't work in the sex industry wear significantly less than Amy was when it's hot.

That was so brilliant with the jammy dodger! One of the best bits of the episode! And Amy was awesome - I love that she has a completely different approach to problems than the Doctor.

Mostly I think this episode just suffered from Too Much Stuff-itis. It is a common problem in Science Fiction usually solved by a strong dose of Calm The Fuck Down and/or Needs More Space For So Much Stuff. This is why long science fiction books are long.

On one hand it was spitfires in SPACE! On the other hand it was spitfires in Space. Basically the five year old kid in me had a fight with the 21 year old who goes "what, no, that doesn't...what?" The five year old one with the unstoppable argument of "VROOM-BANG IN SPACE," because really? Science? Who cares? SPITFIRES IN SPACE.

Also Amy was a delight and I want to smish her for being so clever all the time clever, she's a dear and pretty and a dear.

And 11 was PROMISED TEA.
