Doctor Who 9x06
GOSH THIS WAS SO GOOD. Welcome back, Catherine Treganna! (Previously seen writing episodes for Torchwood including the heartwrenching 'Captain Jack Harkness' from s1. She knows how to write her sad immortals.)
Not being a Game of Thrones viewer, it was wonderful to see Maisie Williams be so outstanding first hand here. Her transformation from last week was beautifully done - dramatic but making total sense. And all the detail about a human mind trying to cope with an immortal life, with the diaries and the forgetting, was amazingly done.
It's a fic writer's dream, too, with the Captain Jack reference at the end and the idea that she's going to pick up where the Doctor leaves off. She must have worked with UNIT and Torchwood and met everyone from the Ponds in New York to Sarah Jane in Aberdeen to Martha after the end of the world.
She's a wonderful match for Twelve, whose compassion and desire to help her strikes just the right note - concern without being overbearing about it. I can't wait to see her meet Clara again next time around, I think that'll be very interesting indeed.
This season continues to be consistently great, I'm so pleased!

I've read fic about 'the Old Companions' club' but this is so much better. Not individuals trying to find each other, but one specific person looking for them all. Collecting them, almost. <3
(Yes I loved it all.)

But the main thing that smacked me round the face that it's very easy to read that Me is non binary. It more than likely wasn't written that way but it can't be ruled out, dammit.

TRUTH. I'm so into it.
