Sense8

I finished it, I loved it, I want to start vidding it immediately, I'm trawling the AO3 for fic. :D

Everything about this show is so relevant to my interests. I loved how character driven it is, how each member of the cluster is the protagonist of their own story as well as being gradually drawn into the overarcing plot. And while a lot of the storylines do absolutely draw on unnecessary stereotypes in a frustrating way, I also really appreciate that this feels like a genuinely global show, as opposed to the alleged international themes of shows like Heroes which were still very US-dominated.

It's so nice to have Freema Agyeman and Naveen Andrews back in a scifi show where I can coo over their faces on the regular. The whole cast are wonderful, and all their moments of connection across the series are amazing. Though, gosh, Nomi and Lito in the museum, that was my very favourite. Having two such different, well-developed queer characters connect in such a meaningful way was really very moving. I adored both their storylines, how different they were, and the total joy of getting a character like Nomi in a show like this, where she is so many things and being trans is one of them, and it's important but it's not everything.

I super enjoyed the show's commitment to queer sex scenes and menstruation and childbirth and other things you don't see so much of. I honestly can't think of a time I've seen a childbirth filmed so explicitly, let alone nine of them, and I can't lie, I was pretty into it.

I'm really excited to see what fandom does with it now. I hope they get more seasons and we can see where everything goes from here. I look forward to staring at all their precious faces a lot on tumblr.

I agree with all of this, but especially:
