I"m here via a vid rec from selenak, and, wow, this is just perfect. I've been looking for good Doctor/Master vids lately, and not finding as many as I'd like, and this absolutely hit the spot. I particularly love how all-inclusive it is. That's a long, long relationship with a lot of history, and I love to see that fact captured in a vid.

That is fantastic and it managed to do what the show itself hasn't managed: made me interested in actually watching s8. I love the fun song used, the upbeat energy of it, and how nicely the older and newer clips mirror each other in gestures and movement.

Simm is still my favourite Master (I loved the "new money, suit and tie" and the "wife/rumours" clips), but no matter the incarnation, the Master comes across as dramatic and a little mad, fascinating and over-grand, and such a great villian and opposite point to the Doctor.

I think I'll be watching this on repeat for a little while. *g*

Thanks! You mean the clip with Eleven throwing the Seal of the High Council of Gallifrey up and catching it? It's from The Time of the Doctor, when the Doctor needs to translate the message coming out of the crack - the Doctor casually mentions how he 'nicked it off the Master in the Death Zone' and it's amazing. He's just been carrying it around this whole time. Probably take it out to fondle it lovingly from time to time.

This was amazing and epic. I'm going to go watch it again immediately. :D I especially love the cuts from the Ten/Simm don't-you-die-on-me intensity and Three being revived to the Twelve/Gomez kiss (it absolutely is a continuation of all the rest!) and all the bits that show how much of a dramatic ham the Master is. And the tussling to the floor, and the "let me save you!" in multiple incarnations!

Oh, and all the bondage themes, lol. What I'm getting from this is that these two are codependent kinksters with no sense of personal space, going back as far as the Keller Machine. And sometimes they turn into cheetahs. There are a lot of clips in here (especially the stuff with Four and Seven) that I hadn't seen before and I'm completely delighted that they're not just shippy in the scenes I have seen.

Although the clips of Nine and War rolling their eyes might just top the cake. :D :D OMG.

I FINALLY watched this, and it is SO GREAT. Lovely cuts and parallels and a lovely bit of literalism with the "boys only want love if it's torture".

If I might criticise, there was a fair bit of talky face at the beginning? It overcame that really well, and I know it's just one of the limitations of Classic Who, but it was distracting. (Note: it's possible I am abnormally opposed to talky face, IDK.)

FINALLY listened to 1989, so I finally watched this, and it is GLORIOUS. If ever a song was truly perfect for a pairing, this is it :D God, I just love how hilarious it is while also being TOTALLY EARNEST about how fucked up they are for each other. Like, it's ridiculous! But also, daaaaang.

I want you both to know that this vid single-handedly convinced me to watch "Dark Water"/"Death in Heaven", after being hugely disappointed by Moffat's entire tenure on the show, and now I'm happily back in Whofandom. Gomez!Master is DELIGHTFUL, and this entire vid is so perfect. All the lyric matches! Gomez's perfect little twirl on "dressed like a daydream". Man, I forgot how Simm and Tennant were all up in each other (I never forgot how Ainley prowled around each Doctor, and how beautifully sneery Delgado was).
