Captain America: the Winter Soldier

I saw Cap 2 last night! It was great!

Non-spoilery info - there are two post-credits scenes.

One spoiler I ended up being glad I knew about going in: Fury dies but it's a fakeout.

And now for the rest of the spoilers!

AH THAT WAS SO GREAT I LOVED IT A LOT. I've been looking forward to this one for a long time and I enjoyed it just as much as I hoped. A fantastic character piece for both Steve and Natasha as well as a bunch of other characters that also is a massive gamechanger for the whole MCU. I can't wait to see it again!

The story was one of my favourite things - the ragtag band of heroes who team up because they realise that the whole system is corrupt and they have to take it down. And it's such a rewarding storyline at this point in the series, when we've half a dozen films already to get us really invested in the world and the characters. Getting so much character development for Fury was a total delight - I love SLJ's snappy one liners, but I love him being heavily involved in the plot much more! His relationship with Natasha was a particularly nice touch.

In no way is this a substitute for Natasha getting her own film, but she really shone here and I'm delighted she had so much to do and that we got to see a very stripped down, raw version of her who had her own identity and foundations rocked. And she had so many great lines. Naaaaaaat, best and favourite. <33333

Other best and favourite - Steve! Oh, Steve, darling, who befriends random joggers and has a notepad with a list of things to catch up on and thinks the internet is pretty neat and who tends to jump out of things a lot. I think they did a great job here of giving him quite specific angst as opposed to some crap about how everything modern is rubbish or whatever. He doesn't think that at all, but he is horrified by the culture of fear everywhere. And the fact that this film really acknowledged that problem and dealt with it was more than I could have hoped. What's going to happen next? I have no idea, I'm excited to find out! I'm looking forward to seeing where fic writers go with it!

SAM! Sam who helps veterans with PTSD and instantly gets that Cap is a good guy and wants to help, and is an adorable sassmaster, Sammmmmm. Fandom, please adopt him, please please please, he's so great.

And every scene Maria was in was amazing ('this thing's squishing my brain!') and although Sharon could have had more to do I thought it was a very nice intro to the character and I hope we see her again.

All of the Steve and Bucky stuff hit me RIGHT IN THE FEELS because I'm such a sucker for it. Oh, bbs. THEY SAVED EACH OTHER. STEVE'S GOING TO GO FIND HIM WHILE BUCKY FINDS HIMSELF. ;_;
