Happy birthday, Doctor Who
It all started out as a mild curiosity in the junkyard, and now it's turned out to be quite a great spirit of adventure.
I'm spending the day going to the BBC con during the day, and then watching the 50th anniversary episode in the cinema, in 3D no less! Very exciting.
I still vividly remember my first encounter with the show, sitting down to watch 'Rose' in 2005. It single handedly rekindled my love of scifi, a love I'd hidden for fear of being considered uncool at school. It became event TV almost immediately, and it wasn't long before I was devouring audios and the classic series too. There's still so much more I haven't watched or read or heard. It's a great feeling.
It's a show that's given me so many characters to fall in love with, and inspired a lot of the creative output I'm most proud of. It's been a huge comfort on bad days and added so much to my pile of good things. It's also how I know a lot of you.
Here's to the next fifty years. ♥

(I don't think I will be able to watch it tonight, ARGH, but am planning to attempt to d/l tomorrow and watch it when my spouse is out of the house on Tuesday. CANNOT WAIT OMG.)
