We now have enough Doctors to make a clock!

Blanketfort of squee below!

As a lot of other people have said, if the Doctor's gonna be another white dude, Peter Calpadi is pretty much my ideal choice. I LOVE HIM A LOT. And the Thick of It crossovers are already hilarious.

(And with regard to issues of diversity in Doctor Who - honestly, I want more diversity among the people who write the show first. The almost entirely white male writing team has been going throughout New Who and that's pretty terrible. I think that needs fixing first before I trust them with a female Doctor -- and I say that as someone who likes the way that Moffat writes women. Also, Doctor Who is not short on excellent female characters, but it is extremely short on long-term chromatic characters. I adore Mickey and Martha but they aren't enough by a long shot, so. Those would be my priorities over casting a woman as the Doctor.)

Being in the audience for the show was immensely fun - full of enthusiastic Whovians, lots of great cosplay, and a delightful atmosphere.

I'm really excited about Twelve + Clara - I think a new Doctor is going to be great for giving Clara's character a real chance to shine. And god, more than ever I hope that River comes back and we get some River/Twelve because DAMN that would be fabulous.

So yes, this has softened the blow of Matt leaving. Slightly. A little.

You were in the audience?! That is awesome!

I hadn't thought about your parenthetical, but you're right.

I'm very much looking forward to Clara and Twelve. She's been a bit too overshadowed by the Ponds.
