Doctor Who 7x08

Finally got the chance to watch last night's Who.

I loved it! I loved the backstory for Clara and the development of her relationship with the Doctor. And both of them are just precious with kids. Clara making that connection with the girl was lovely and a great character trait they're continuing to develop. And I'm so delighted that she goes back home again! She's not swept away and the Doctor is trying to learn from past mistakes - see also, admitting at least a little of what's going on, and how he needs to not do that.

Oh, Eleventy. I loved his big hero speech - even in those moments he's so sad in this totally heartbreaking way, it plays so differently to how it has done with previous Doctors. Very old and very kind and the very very last. <3333 And I will always love the emphasis on the importance of stories.

They're adorable and have good faces and I look forward to next week! :D

I have to say, I really loved this episode. It hit so many things that feel important about DW stories: bravery in the face of the unknown, protecting others, the big hero moment from the Doctor with smaller hero moments from his companion, the importance of stories and possibilities and imagination. I loved it so much more than last week.

Their faces are just too much.

Considering this Clara's second episode as "proper companion", this parallelled beautifully with The Beast Below, which I wasn't a huge fan of the first time I saw it, but has grown to become one of my favorites. And this hit all of those same, lovely notes.

The Doctor, especially Eleventy + Small Children = Guaranteed Wonderfulness *sigh*

Oh and I particularly liked Eleven's evolution from "I never get involved in the affairs of other peoples or planets" to "We don't walk away". <3

Yes, as I was watching this it occurred to me that it was a lovely parallel to The Beast Below.

I love pretty much everything about this episode. Especially the music-- solo to full choir is something I adore. And stories! I love the importance stories have. Clara! And the Doctor! And Clara!

I lovedlovedloved the way their relationship developed in this episode. & the singing! & Clara being wonderful and the way she knows who she is and is so confident in it. & Eleven's character development too; I love that SO much.

There were a couple things I'd've changed (not about Clara & Eleven, just about the way the Big Bad of this episode just...didn't work for me), but I definitely thought it was a great continuation of last week's pretty strong start.

& Clara's speech at the end made me really want her & Martha to meet. Or her and Donna. Or you know, ALL OF THEM.
