scattered Ponds things
First - a thing! Go play! I certainly need it today.

Second, more feelings.
+ The more I think about it the happier I am with their ending. It feels final without feeling like their story has been cut short - a break, beyond which we don't get to see any more, but which we can happily imagine. And there are so many stories to tell about them before Manhattan - over ten years travelling with the Doctor alone. I love how much of the broad shape of Amy's life we know, and how much more is left up to the imagination. It feels satisfying.
+ There is so much room for headcanon here that's unlikely to be contradicted. I refuse to believe that River doesn't still see them, given that there's nothing in the episode to suggest she couldn't (their deaths, or their gravestones, are fixed points, and the TARDIS can't get in, but that's really it). I also like to imagine she picks up her grandparents and brings them to visit. I don't believe any of them would be cruel enough to let their families believe that they just disappeared and died.
+ I am still sad that we don't get a final scene of them in their new life, but I get why now - companions' departures have always been told from the Doctor's POV in New Who, largely. Once he doesn't see them, neither do we. It's disconcerting in this case because this whole series has been from the Ponds' POV so much, but it's back to being the Doctor's story again now that their time together is over.
+ Oh, Ponds. ♥

And yes to all of this. I am going to miss them so, so much, but it's really such a nice way to leave them--gone, but happy and with so much ahead and lots of adventures for us to imagine.

My immediate thought was, after sadness, "They obviously hang out with Canton and David all the time and Canton has to be super careful not to tell their past selves or the Doctor about them."
idk, I'm still super torn up about it, but also overall happy that they get a happily ever after, at least, and that they get so much time with the Doctor, more than any other companions we've had yet. It's not a bad ending. In fact, I think the only better ending we've gotten so far is Martha's.

Yep! So glad we agree. :D
The whole thing's so bittersweet, really. They have each other, but to start with at least, nothing else. I think it'll be a wonderful adventure for them but it hurts a lot to think about. ALSO I DON'T UNDERSTAND THE CONCEPT OF DOCTOR WHO WITHOUT PONDS IT ANY MORE. THIS IS A PROBLEM GIVEN THE NATURE OF THE SHOW.

Exactly - that's all I've ever wanted for them. <3
