Oh look a meme where I can pretend like I have new content even though I totally don't. (So many things I want to make! Severe lack of time! Woe!)

This is from my big ladies in space fusion that I will finish one of these days, honest.

Teyla was in the middle of giving a speech when River arrived at the city hall. She stood up on a podium, screens behind her showing the plans for a new children's library and detailing some of the innovative strategies the education council had put together to ensure that Athos's children would inherit the rich culture and history of their world from before the war, compensating as best they could for all the records and art that had been lost.
Teyla's speech was mostly addressed to the children in the front rows, who were all gazing up at her attentively, from toddlers sitting on their parents' laps to teenagers who were eager to reclaim their education after a childhood disrupted by war.
River stood at the back, and felt immensely proud. Not that she could take much credit for Athos's new beginning, of course - that was all Teyla. But, well. She and Teyla did go way back, and River had helped her out from time to time.
A concluding screen flashed up on the wall behind Teyla, and she took a slight bow. "Thank you so much for your time," she said. "I hope you will all join me in the next room for refreshments, where I will be happy to answer any questions you might have."
River joined in with the enthusiastic applause, then followed the crowd through into the lounge area, grabbed herself a coffee and waited until Teyla was looking a little less mobbed by her supporters.
"Minister Emmagan," she said, pulling up a chair.
"River!" Teyla's face lit up. "What are you doing here? I had no idea you were coming."
