In terms of actual plot I need to rewatch, but I had a great time watching it and I LOVE THE PONDS SO MUCH GUYS. I am slightly sad we didn't actually get a reunion scene with the Doctor as well but hopefully Christmas! And in the meantime I will write ALL THE FIC.

Also, yes, I really do love the Doctor going back to basics. It needs to happen; at some point, every build-up has to be undercut, and after six series of build-up, we damned well need some undercutting.

Yes, this whole episode was about undercutting, really - undercutting the angst with fakeouts and the Doctor's hilarious face on realising River wasn't actually shooting him and all the rest of it. It was refreshing and kind of awesome.
