Questions from
pocky_slash:
1. All of the craziness of this season of Doctor Who is over! The Doctor wants to take his TARDIS full of Ponds somewhere to relax and have some fun! Where are they going? Who are they picking up along the way? What token protests does Rory give? Do they get where they're going the first try, or does River have to step in and force the Doctor to spoil the surprise so she can make sure they land where they're supposed to?
Hee! WELL. Sort of handwaving the thing where I imagine that it would take really quite a lot to stop Amy and Rory freaking out forever because what the fuck is even happening and where is their baby etc, so let's say they've got past that and are reasonably assured that everything WILL be fine, but timelines, so they're going to have to chill out for a bit in the meantime.
Rory doesn't want anywhere too exciting, by which he means anywhere where the Doctor or River will get them into trouble, but River doesn't want anywhere too boring. Amy demands a beach. The Doctor thinks about it for a bit, and then the TARDIS takes the figurative wheel and decides to take them all to 35th century Brighton. Climate change has made the place a tropical paradise, and the stones have turned to golden sand. Rory buys some Brighton rock; the Doctor finds a ridiculous rainbow hat with a propeller on it; Amy flirts with the locals; River goes on an archaeology adventure.
2. Free of responsibilities and given unlimited finances, what are the first three things you do?
Assuming we've set aside things like 'pay off student loans' and other boring concerns: buy a huge, kickass house in London, buy all of my friends the necessary plane/train tickets to come visit, and throw the best party ever.
3. What is the Fic of Your Heart (aka the fic that would make you the happiest, that's exactly what you want, that you would read over and over and over again and hearthand at for hours)?
Ooh, good question! It is probably a fic where all of my favourite characters go on a massive space adventure together. And not just a short thing, either, thousands and thousands of words of different escapades and tangled relationships and emotional arcs with self-discovery and empowerment and a blissfully happy ending. I would read that story all the time. :D
4. What do you want to do with your life? I'm legit curious, because I actually don't know!
Ha, well! That is something of the question of the hour, given I finish up my MA at the end of the summer. I am hoping to move into the voluntary sector, ideally doing policy and research for an awesome activist group. Sitting at a desk and analysing stuff is basically what I do, and it would be pretty great if someone would like to pay for me that. But in the short term I will be very happy doing just about anything, because oh dear real world, money, etc.
5. What are the first ten books you would donate to the such_heights Eventually-Memorial-But-Not-Yet-Cause-You're-Obvs-Still-Alive Library?
Hm. The first books that come to mind, for reasons of sentimental attachment, and in the order I came to love them:
The Singing Stone - Orla Melling
Matilda - Roald Dahl
His Dark Materials - Philip Pullman
The Complete Works of Shakespeare
Good Omens - Terry Pratchett & Neil Gaiman
Cloud Atlas - David Mitchell
Complete Poems - e. e. cummings
Never Let Me Go - Kazuo Ishiguro
The Great Gatsby - F Scott Fitzgerald
The Left Hand of Darkness - Ursula K. Le Guin

1. What is your MOST FAVOURITE THING about Team Eleventy or DW as a whole?
Oh gosh. For me, the heart of Doctor Who is always the companions' stories; specifically, the story of women discovering the universe. I just love it so much - the moment they first enter the TARDIS, when they go to their first alien world, when they see things far beyond anything they'd ever dreamed, the way it makes them brave and more than and will change them forever, even if they don't remember it. It makes me so happy in my heart, every time, and it is always my consolation when I have to say goodbye to a beloved companion - we get to see it all over again. (Remind me of this when the Ponds leave, by the way, as I will be distraught I should imagine. Woe.)
Relatedly, my most favourite thing about Team Eleventy is Amy Pond and her amazing face.
2. If you were a Companion, where would you want to go first?
The Doctor totally wouldn't let me, but I would really like to go The Library and dig out on a book on Earth's future history. I want to know what's going to happen in hundreds of years! Do we get our act together and save the planet? Do we colonise the stars? Do we meet aliens? I am so gutted that I will never know.
3. Favorite sweet, with footnotes.
Fudge. Omg, it is so good - I am basically incapable of being in the vicinity of a specialist fudge shop and not buying something. I particularly enjoy vanilla varieties, but all fudge is good fudge.
4. You're getting married on the wedding planet. What's playing in the background?
Ahahaha, just as I got to this question, Lady Gaga started playing. NO. I LOVE THE GAGA, BUT. Gosh, I don't know! The Magnetic Fields? Sigur Ros? Vienna Teng? The Postal Service? Vienna Teng's probably a safe bet.
5. Best place to write fic?
Curled on my sofa, with cushions and tea. :D

The Great Gatsby - F Scott Fitzgerald
The Left Hand of Darkness - Ursula K. Le Guin these are three of my favorite books, I'm going to have to read all the other ones on your list, cos you clearly have amazing taste (although I've read Matlida along with every children's book published when I was young).
I've been meaning to read Good Omens forever. I thought I'd picked up an audiobook of it, but that turned out to be American Gods (which was... not as much fun). I need to read some T. Prachett anyway.
And I'd love some questions!

This. Please remind me as well. Amy was my first companion and as I went back and watched Eccleston and Tennant's seasons, I was always comforted by the fact that yes, it was so sad when their time ended (especially Donna, who I love nearly as much as Amy!) but that we had to go through them to get to Pond. And Eleventy. The knowledge of the awesomeness that was to come was comforting, but I still wept. Losing the Ponds? Oi. It's going to be ugly. I hope I'm watching it alone.

Yes! I was watching your Suzanne vid for like the eleventh time and I think my favorite part is Amy's "Oh my godddddddd" face when she sees the interior of the TARDIS for the first time. Like, she's working SO HARD to keep her jaw from dropping open and her face, and the excitement on it. It's so awesome. :D
Anyway! I love memes so please question me.
