The Fandom Steel Cage Match is back! One of those fandom events that I totally care about despite myself. Last year the final four were Sheldon Cooper, Temperance Brennan, Veronica Mars and the winner, Buffy Summers, which is awesome gender-wise, though it's sad that basically all the chromatic characters got knocked out v. early on.

some races I am interested in, and also some totally objective information about who you should vote for:

Comedy Bracket:

Community: So I don't actually watch this show, but it seems to be between Abed and Troy (and also Annie and Britta), which the internets suggests to me is an excellent choice any way it goes.

Psych: Gus! A vote for Gus is a vote for awesome! Shawn would want you to. *nods*

Drama Bracket:

The Good Wife: KALINDA! \o/ DO IT.

Sci-Fi Bracket:

Battlestar Galactica: Well, Kara seems to have it sown up, which I can't complain about, but Laura! Also Dee! Just saying.

Being Human: Okay, so my vote went to Nina BUT THIS THING WHERE ANNIE'S IN THE LEAD IS WORKING FOR ME, so I may change my vote. Annie!

Doctor Who: This one seems to be between Ten, Eleven, Amy and Donna. A VOTE FOR AMY IS A VOTE FOR ALL THAT IS GOOD, OKAY. DO IT FOR ME. (Donna and Eleven are also acceptable choices, but AMY.)

Firefly: Okay, so Zoe is in joint 3rd with Kaylee right now. THIS SEEMS WRONG. VOTE ZOE.

I am quite pleased that Aeryn Sun and Olivia Dunham are sweeping their respective categories.

Merlin: Vote Gwen! Can we get her to come in second, even? That would be pleasing. <3

Stargate Verse: Folks seem to be rallying around Sam Carter? I can get behind that!

Teen Bracket:

The Vampire Diaries: I would love to see Bonnie take this, I really would. However! It appears to be between Caroline and Damon, therefore OMG PLS TO BE VOTING CAROLINE. Caroline >>>> Damon, that is just science okay. (I should probably write that post about this show sometime, but short version - while Damon is often entertaining and sometimes interests me in the narrative of the show, omg also his manpain is enraging, whereas Caroline is A RAY OF SUNSHINE AND DELIGHT.)

While I personally voted for Abed, I feel there is no downside if either he or Troy wins.

And I was so glad to see Olivia winning so commandingly.

Ahh, yes. I voted way early so there wasn't too much of a slew, but I am VERY HAPPY about those two things. I hope it remains so.

PLEASE VOTE CAROLINE. OMG. I NEED HER TO WIN OVER DAMON, SO BADLY. I'd actually rather have Elena (because I voted for awesome main character ladies who are well-rounded as my theme this year, except for the few guys I voted for), but Caroline is my favorite and has the best chance of beating out Damon.

I voted for Abed because if I had voted for Troy he'd be giving me this sad puppy look like, 'how could you not for for Abed????'. I blame Troy.

I voted Athena for BSG because she was always my favourite. Same for Gwen. And Caroline pwns Damon any day of the week.

Oh goodness, I did not phrase that well, did I? Nothing, of course! Kaylee is my girl! She and Zoe should be joint first actually, but if I was going to pick a Firefly representative to go through to the next round, Zoe would be it.

I really don't like these events? But I'm fully behind supporting awesome characters who aren't straight white guys, so I went through and voted for chromatic characters, female characters, and queer characters exclusively. It made me feel pretty good, actually.

I approve of all your choices! FMM is so silly and always serves as a reminder of how basic fandom is, but I can never resist hopping in to stan the frak out of the ladies and marginalized characters.
