Recs! These both fall into the category of 'write what you know', which is an AWESOME category of fic that I really love, yet feel strangely self-conscious about trying myself. But here's how to do it!

A New Low by rosemaryandrue (Merlin, Arthur/Merlin, Gwen/Morgana)
Written for this prompt at kinkme_merlin, which asked for diabetic!Merlin stuck in a lift with Arthur. It grew from there.

Given what's been going on with me the past couple of weeks, this was JUST what the doctor ordered! It's a delightful modern AU with great characters, a ton of geek references and a very sweet developing relationship.

Heel Turn by brownbetty (Star Trek Reboot, Kirk, Sulu, ensemble)
Eventually, they discover it's all McCoy's fault. "What!" he protests. "He came to me with his hand sliced open from that damn pig-sticker of his, and I told him to find a hobby with fewer monomolecular edges! It's sound medical advice!"

OH MAN, I miss the tone of this fandom so much, and this totally delivers. SULU! *draws all the hearts* But everyone gets to be awesome in this.

I was reading the above whilst chatting to avendya, and then we got onto the topic of what hobbies other characters might enjoy:

such_heights: Also I am reading a fic about Sulu knitting on the bridge of the Enterprise. I love fandom so much.

*grins* And the little models keep teleporting to other parts of the TARDIS where they get caught inside gears or appear floating inside sealed milk bottles. Sometimes, Amy stands on one in the middle of the night when she's trying to work out where the hell the bathroom has gone this time. And then there's trouble.

It is one of the terms, yes! The most common ones I see are Star Trek Reboot, Star Trek XI, and Star Trek: AOS (Alternate Original Series).

I seem to have an awful lot of Reboot icons saved by fantastipink, so I recommend them!

We know Ten wrote music (in The Music of the Spheres) - he probably has a whole room full of emo music he wrote after EVERY series finale. And then Eleven came along and threw it all int a supernova, along with the Tardis instruction manual.

See, the thing is, that reading the knitting fic made me want to write Pansy-verse knitting fic. But I already have a half started Pansy-verse rugby fic. I want to combine the two, and I don't know if it would work or if it would be just too Mary-Sue-ish.

My life, so hard.

DO IT. I don't think it's Mary-Sue-ish at all, I think it's an awesome thing that fandom does. Also, I would read the heck out of knitting and rugby Pansy-verse fic!

Maybe I will do it then! For true Mary-Sue-ing I could make Hermione stressed about writing a thesis. But that would be boring for everyone.
