Yip-de-bloody-do. Apparently this means that if you make the minimum amount needed to start paying the money back it comes to about 9% of your salary (according to a Tory MP's staffer I randomly found myself talking to last night). But of course if you still haven't paid it off by the time you're 50 it gets cancelled ... It shouldn't be beyond the wit of politicians to devise something better than this. Oh hang on, what am I saying?
It's bloody awful. Not that we're much better off in Australia with HECS. It's still a horrible moment when you realise your country only wants the wealthy to have access to education.
