Filming Report

Today I went to go see Neil Gaiman make a film with Bill Nighy and Amanda Palmer!

It was so much fun - everyone on set seemed to be having a blast, and I was able to fangirl away to myself quite happily the whole time. Made friends with some of the other geeks watching (it's a toss-up as to whether we were collectively crushing harder on Neil Gaiman or Amanda Palmer :D) and also some of the extras.

It's a short, silent film called "Statuesque" that will show on Sky One in the run up to Christmas, and what I could ascertain from what I saw so far was that it features Bill Nighy as a pyjama-clad statue who falls in love with the beautiful lady statue beside him, and Amanda Palmer is an unloved statue.

My friend and I got there just as they were breaking for lunch, and Neil stopped to talk to fans and sign books and comics and pose for photos. "Oh no!" said we, "we brought no books!" He said he'd be happy to sign more things later whenever he wasn't working, so we rushed off to the local bookshop to pick up books. I treated myself to a new copy of American Gods, and lo and behold:

He was a total gent throughout the whole thing, kind and funny and gracious with his time. I didn't say very much because I am totally tongue-tied around people like that, but I basked happily in the conversation anyway.

Another gentleman was Bill Nighy, who was clearly having a blast. He was also adorable, as he had to reshoot the same scene with a kid a number of times, and after each take he would very solemnly shake the little boy's hand.

I saw a little less of Amanda Palmer, although when we got there she was in this seriously amazing pinstripe suit, but her later costume was also incredible:

You should know she wasn't even acting at this point. :D

(Also, you guys, Neil&Amanda are SO LOVELY I CANNOT EVEN. <33333)

The whole thing looked really great, made with a lot of love, and I look forward to it airing in the next few months!

THIS WHOLE ENTRY MADE ME SO HAPPY THAT I CANNOT EVEN BE JEALOUS.

IF I DID NOT HAVE SUCH AN AVERSION TO SPARKLY TEXT (& ALSO A TOTAL LACK OF KNOWLEDGE IN HOW TO ACHIEVE IT) THERE WOULD BE SOME RIGHT HERE IN THIS COMMENT, THAT IS HOW MUCH I LOVE THIS ENTRY.

ALSO I FORGOT TO SAY: I love how in the picture of Bill (OH MY GOD BILL NIGHY) & Neil, Neil's hand has gone all Bill-Nighy-esque.

(I know I am weird whatever.)

Also, sometimes I forget words when I am excited, lol.
