Excellent news from Malawi: Steven Monjeza and Tiwonge Chimbalanga have been pardoned and released. Here's hoping they can return to their lives with the minimum of harassment and additional pain.

Just heard this on the news - Fantastic but I presume is a political move due to pressure from Ban Ki-moon. President Bingu wa Mutharikais still quoted as saying
'In all aspects of reasoning, in all aspects of human understanding, these two gay boys were wrong - totally wrong," he said after meeting Mr Ban. :(

Yes, it's hard to say whether this will have much impact on Malawi's legislation. I am glad to see Ban Ki-moon actually taking some action and getting some results, though! Just what the UN should be for.

I'm so glad this happened, but I don't see them living comfortably there anymore. I hope they can get asylum somewhere because I fear for their safety!
