I want to make a whole longlist of vids that I could've picked!

Thanks so much to everyone who attended the vidding workshop! It was a huge success and I hope that we're going to see some new vidders emerging as a result. :D

Over there, [personal profile] obsessive24 was MEAN and HEARTLESS and asked us all some really hard questions which seemed to have generated a bit of a meme. I pass this onto you, my vidder/vid-watcher friends!

If all but one of your vids are erased from history, never to return (you can't reconstruct them, nor can you get anyone else to do it for you), which one would you keep and why?

And, name ONE vid that's had a formative influence on you as a vidder and tell us why. (Yeah, I'm sure there is more than one that's had a formative influence on you as a vidder. Suck it up and whittle it down. ;) )

And one for all vid-watching types:

AND, if all but one of the vids that you've ever watched are erased from history, never to return, which one would you keep and why?

My answers were:

The vid of my own that I would keep would be Glorious, I think - not necessarily because it's the best thing I've made, but because I'm still very emotionally attached to it in a way I'm not with a lot of my other vids. It was a really satisfying experience of vidding on gut feeling, mostly, and having that translate across to other people so they could respond in kind.

My formative vid is definitely [livejournal.com profile] hollywoodgrrl's (Boulevard of) Broken Songs, which really blew my mind when I found it. It showed me Doctor Who as I saw it, full of the epic story of the companions, and I really had no idea before I watched it that vids could do that. I was hooked from there on out.

One vid to keep - this is really hard. I'll go with [personal profile] eruthros and [personal profile] thingswithwings' One Night Fandoms. It's filled with so much unbridled joy and love for fandom, is a masterpiece of cohesive multi-fandom editing, and I never get tired of watching it.

I shall now return to angsting over what to do for my Vividcon Premiere. (No one told me it would be this difficult just to decide on a vid to make! /o\)

Those really are the worst questions ever.

I thought I had decided on a Premiere and now I'm waffling again! I am trying to stay strong with my original though.

Ooh, I'd never seen "(Boulevard of) Broken Songs" or "One-Night Fandoms" before! Those were fantastic! I have "Glorious" on my computer, and I rewatch it every few weeks.

(And I'm not going to do the meme because I don't think I've seen enough to really judge, but yeesh, hard.)

I peeked in on the vidding workshop; you did a great job, and it was really informative. I wish I had the computer/programs to do a proper vid because I'd love to give it a try. Still, I think I have more than enough to do with writing alone.

To answer the question for watchers, I think [personal profile] thingswithwings' "The Glass" is the one I'd keep. I didn't really "get" vids until I watched it. Even though some of the fandoms in it are not ones I'm familiar with, it still gives me goosebumps and even makes me tear up. And the fact that you don't find out the song is called "Kissing Through Glass" until the end, and the way that's sort of a reveal (though more so for a non-slasher, I'd imagine) is really an extra kicker for me.
