use your vote!

It's the UK general election tomorrow. If you're eligible, please, please vote. It's all up in the air right now, and even if you live in a safe seat, it's still important to make your voice heard. The numbers matter.

(P.S. Please don't vote Conservative. Seeing as how they don't like me, I don't like them.)

I obvs cannot vote, but I have been following the election quite closely! No idea what will happen by the end of tomorrow night (or, er, early day-after-tomorrow morning, probably), but my constituency, Oxford East, is number four on the Lib Dems' list of target seats and I would really, really like for them to win it. :D

I'm pretty sure folks on LJ are disproportionately in a demographic that leans left, so arguably encouraging them to vote has an inherent political bias. I've heard (maybe untrue) scare stories about US voter signup drives at music festivals etc. where the drive was run by rightwingers who simply threw all the forms away in order to stop those people voting, because if young folks vote then they tend to vote Democrat. I've yet to hear of any widespread electoral fraud by the Tories, but there's a scary story about electoral fraud in the Independent.

I still haven't decided how to vote! This is v unusual for me. I will still be voting, though, even if I have to toss a coin on the way into the polling station. ;D

Good luck on your elections! I'll be nail-biting in November when it's our turn.

I feel strangely connected to your elections seeing as Nick Clegg is half Dutch and actually was interviewed in my own language for our news! I was alternating being staring at him in awe (because he was already awesome and then there was this cherry sitting on top!) and giggling like mad. I was already a Clegg fan before, but now I want him to win :).

This morning I woke up with such a sense of dread. Argh! Why is The Guardian telling us the Tories have it in the bag?! Do they have no faith?

Off to vote now. Exciting stuff.
