I am both eagerly awaiting the news and stockpiling building materials to construct a little fortress over here to live in for the next however long - you are welcome to join me! Fluffy cushions and DVDs and popcorn for all!

Also, this? ... the actor playing the new Doctor will be giving his or her initial reaction ... Don't taunt me, Beeb, don't you do that, I know you're not following through on your pretty words.

New doctor announcement - yay
His or -her- - Series nosedive. It's not that we have anything against a female doctor, just that it'd be a bit gimicky. I think, however, that Moffat would shoot a hole in the bottom of that boat before it got underway. *crosses fingers* But I am prepared to eat my words if need be, in regards to both >.>

I'm so pleased they've out-and-out said it! It's unlikely to happen in the near future, but with an alien character who entirely regenerates their body when on the verge of death, I think ten white male incarnations are quite enough. Not only that, but the idea of a story that's such an integral part of British TV that could play with people's conceptions of gender is indeed very exciting.

Ahahaha, this totally makes it sound like HE HAD NO IDEA and all of a sudden the BBC runs up and rings his doorbell and he comes out in his pyjamas with a toothbrush in his mouth all "...?" and they're all "YOU ARE THE NEXT DOCTOR" and he's all "...?!?!" and they're all "you're on camera, say something interesting" and he's all "...um."
