"It is more fun when he's around, though."

Moar Torchwood thoughts.

Firstly, "have you seen a blowfish driving a sports car?" will never not be funny. I'm just saying.

I love the beginning where they're all being competent without him, go team! I know I've seen a couple of people who are surprised that Gwen took charge when she's still effectively the new girl, but it sort of makes sense to me, I think she's the best out the four of them in terms of co-ordination etc, so as long as Owen gets to shoot out of car windows I'm sure he's happy.

I liked Owen's "did he fix you line?" - perceptive Owen, now there's a surprise! Generally, everyone seems so new and improved and shiny now, it's awesome.

Captain John had so many good lines, ahahaha. Favourites at the beginning include "which artery do you normally sever?" and obviously "thirsty now", hee.

PC Andy continues to be awesome, I am hoping he might get something to do this series sometime?

Oh, the Star Wars hologram also makes me laugh a lot. :D You can tell Chris Chibnall had a heck of a lot of fun with this episode!

With regards to the Jack/Gwen hints: I've seen a lot of people reacting negatively to that, which I agree with for a number of reasons - Rhys is awesome for a start, and I think that a lot of Torchwood fans enjoy the fact that it isn't the sort of programme that has to go down the normative route of main male protagonist hooking up in an OTPish fashion with main female protagonist. However, I remain hopeful that even if they did go down at the route at some point, it wouldn't necessarily be that sort of a thing - anyway, let's be honest, this show isn't really the stuff of happily ever after, especially not with Jack. I hope that they don't take that direction, because of aforementioned Rhys, but we'll see I suppose.

This entry was originally intended to make a lot more sense, heh. But I'm pleased that the calibre of writing and characterisation seems to have been ramped up, can't wait to see how various dynamics are going to play out in the next few episodes, and would really like it to be next Wednesday already!

Oh, yes, I was so glad to see PC Andy. He always seemed like fun, my fav line of his from last season being "I have walked, I have bloody walked." :-p

And the star wars part, complete with him looking over his shoulder as he signed off was perfect! I had a giggle fit of Star Wars/Torchwood joy there!

That is excatly how I feel and how I want Torchwood to be, and not just because I like Jack/Ianto (in all honestly I think that Ianto deserves to find someone better than Jack, someone who can be more devoted and all for him than Jack will ever be able to be) but because I like Gwen/Rhys when she is treating him right, like in the memories of "Ghost Machine." I like Rhys and want him to be happy! It's strange that I am so attached to a 'minor' character but he doesn't deserve all he gets from Gwen.

Yeah, sorry that I wrote a book there!

I think that was in Combat that she did that. I was so pissed at her then! And oh yes yippie for more Rhys!

I wonder if the Jack/Gwen is more about Jack not wanting her to have an outside life, even though he says he does. Maybe he doesn't want Gwen to have divided loyalties or something.

I know! I can hardly recognize these people!

About Rhys - mostly, I just hate the way Gwen treats him. After everything that went down with the season finale and how she realized she really does love him, you'd think she'd appreciate him more, but she's still using him as second best. If she can't truly love him then that's fine, but for the love of God break up with him and let him find happiness. >____<

But in all, I'm pretty pleased with the way everything went down and I just hope (OMG SO MUCH) that it'll keep this new and shiny level of quality for the rest of the season.

Teehee. I squee(e?)d a lot about Andy and the Star Wars hologram. Andy is so awesome.

That's exactly how I feel. And then there's of course that I love Jack/Ianto (although I fear this is going to end really badly and I maybe kind of a little bit think that Ianto deserves better) and really like Rhys.

Yesssss. I can't wait. (Especially for the Jack/Ianto date. Heh. *is shallow*)

I love your icon. *stares at*

Heh. If it all ends horribly, I'll make the first post-S2 [livejournal.com profile] jantolution challenge 'fluff'. :P

(I wonder if that Ianto clip from the preview is of the date? That was the first thing I thought, anyway. Or from a certain scene I've seen filming pictures of...)

I think you're safe with Jack/Gwen not beng an OTP. Jack may be many things, but 'monogamous' is not one of them. :)
