Dear Yuletide Writer

Gmail tried to eat Yuletide! D: Thankfully I rescued it from my spam box. And I am very pleased, so thus relieved, with my assignment.

And now, to continue the flood on your friendslists - my Dear Yuletider letter. Hurray!

Hi Yuletide writer! You're awesome, and I'm going to be thrilled with whatever you write for me. It occurs to me that actually my request and character combos may have seemed a little strange, so apologies if I've alarmed you, and let me try to assuage your fears!

I like happy and hopeful-type stories, whether humorous, thoughtful or romantic. I love angst as well, but I prefer when it's due to canon outside circumstances rather than the characters developing neuroses all of their own. Ned and Chuck's unrealised longing to do something as simple as hold hands? Awesome. Ned angsting about whether Chuck should really be with him or not? I'd rather our beloved heroes were happy where possible, please. I love stories that explore the themes and tone of the source - stick in some existenialism/reincarnation/multiple worlds/pie and I'll be delighted. I enjoy everything from totally plotless character studies/ship pieces to epic adventures, so whatever your usual genre will be great. I like my characters smart, snarky and competent where appropriate. Relationship-wise, I like partnerships of equals, and am also fond of pining!character/oblivious!character leading to first times and joy.

Things I really don't like: character bashing (especially female and/or love interests). That's... probably about it, save all the usual squicks. Also, I'd very much prefer stories R-rated or lower - if sex scenes are part of the story that's totally fine, but I'd rather not have graphic, lengthy descriptions. (I know, I know, I am a failure unto fandom.) And making out can be hot, too.

I appear to have designated this year's Yuletide as Year Of Slash - if you're not a slash writer, or the pairings I've requested don't appeal to you, that's okay! I'll be happy with friendship stories too.

I Heart Huckabees
Albert Markovski/Tommy Corn

I was watching this film a few weeks back, and struck by just how much they should have made out at the end, yet didn't. If you felt like fixing that grievous error, that would be awesome! :D Anything about the two of them I will surely love, however. And as a nerdy philosophy student, discussions about life, the universe and and so on will make me so incredibly happy.

David Mitchell - Cloud Atlas
Robert Frobisher/Rufus Sixsmith/Sonmi~451

*laughs* I'm not actually asking for some crazy timebending story! Although, if you felt moved to, that would be amazing. But these are my three favourites, and I'll love anything about any of them. Robert/Rufus backstory especially would be just excellent, because oh but they break my heart. :( That, or I'd love to know more about Sonmi's awakening and her experiences.

Philip Pullman - His Dark Materials
Mary Malone/Serafina Pekkala

Some sort of parallel world transcendental femslash would be so so great. But! Anything about these two, their relationship as started in canon, and how they affect each other will be loved and cherished.

Pushing Daisies
Charlotte Charles, aka Chuck/Emerson Cod/Ned/Olive Snook

There is nothing I do not love about this show, thus there is nothing I would not love to read about! I'd really like it to include all four of them in some way, because their dynamics amuse me so and are perhaps a little underexplored in canon. But my dream would be Ned/Chuck/Olive, really, because it's an interesting idea that's been eating away at me.

In short, thank you so so much for writing for me! I'm excited! And really, I'm easy. :P If you've got any more questions about what I might like, I point you over to [livejournal.com profile] avendya.
