Televisual Delights!

Oh, American telly, how delightfully you are entertaining me. :D

Supernatural

*flaps* Oh wow. I totally loved this. You know that whole meme about which shows you're watching? I've always said I'm watching the Oh, Dean Show and the Sam Winchester Is The Antichrist Show, both of which this season has been delivering on magnificently, but I completely forgot how much I love watching the Family Business Show as well, and how much I've missed it!

I was thrilled beyond all belief by Mary, I really was. SHE WAS A BADASS HUNTER! FROM A FAMILY OF BADASS HUNTERS! She's the driving force behind everything that happened to our boys, not John (oh, John), which was such a fantastic reversal of the old idea of Mary being primarily a victim. And damn, how history repeats itself, huh? I loved all the parallels they brought out between the three generations, both in terms of events and characteristics. Samuel and Deanna were splendid both (and OH HAI Mitch Pileggi!).

SPN really isn't a fic-writing show for me, but this episode is coming pretty close to changing my mind on that. So awesome! Heh, it's entirely possible I have a thing for the tragically dead parents of fantasy story protagonists.

Pushing Daisies

Oh, beloved show of crack, welcome back into my heart! Eeeeee how is this so made of SUNSHINE AND HAPPY? I have no idea, but I love it. And I love how these are all achingly real characters, written beautifully and set against this crazy world. Olive and Chuck, especially, are both MADE OF WIN, and Ned is the most adorable dork ever and Emerson brings the snark like a champion. How they continue to pull it all off is a complete mystery. I can has next episode now? (Also, Olive inna nunnery is pretty much the best thing ever, ahahaha.)

That's one of the reasons I loved the episode so much. Mary was just seen as this nearly-perfect mother figure and not as a real person, but it turns out that she was not only just as human as everyone else, but she was also just like her husband and her kids. Oh, it's just so wonderful.

And if you do write fic, I look forward to reading it! *hint hint*

I think I love Pushing Daisies because it is so SUNSHINE AND HAPPY! And it's just morbid enough to not be overwhelming, which I like. It reminds me so much of Dead Like Me, which I heartily miss.

I've decided that I need a Pushing Daisies icon. EEE! That show fills me with so much happy. I want a Ned. And I want Chuck's wardrobe because omg she wears the cutest things. But in spite of all of that, I think Emerson the knitting, pop-up book making Private Investigator is my favorite character. His comments are so funny.

Also, PIGBY!!!

SPN OMG YES. how amazingly perfect was that whole resolution to the mystery of the YED thing? GAH, SHOW. <3333 i just. Mary and her parents. THE FAMILY BUSINESS, INDEED. and how utterly precious was John?!! [though utterly tragic as well since he's such a jaded and destroyed soul when we see him after Mary's death. :(] asdljh really, last night left me incoherent and stupidly pleased. and it's apparently carried over to today. lastly, on the topic of SPN, i would not be at all opposed to copious amounts of young!John/Mary fic from you. if that's indeed what you have him mind. what am i saying? i wouldn't mind fic from you on ANY subject related to SPN. :D

and eeeee i know we already exchanged Pushing Daisies squee, but HAVE A LITTLE MOAR. i love that they even managed to bring color and flare to a nun's habit. OH, SHOW. ♥

I have nothing of signifigance to add, but I'm loving both of these shows a great deal right now.
And it's always fun to read someone else's thoughts about them. :D
