Torchwood 2x02: Sleeper
I liked the whodunnit feel of the first bit, from Jack trying to hustle the police officer out of the crime scene to Gwen and Owen hanging out in the hospital. Gwen & Owen in general were lovely together this week, now I remember why I sort of shipped them all that time ago! Owen has been much more likeable recently, too.
On that note, actually, I think what I'm particularly enjoying about this series so far is that at the core, the team is happy, reasonably functional, and enjoy each others' company, in pretty sharp contrast to last series, especially towards the end. This is Torchwood, mind you, so it's not going to last, but I suspect that having this togetherness about them now will make all the future angst actually more effective. And I always like programmes where you enjoy watching the characters enjoying themselves, more fun viewing in my opinion.
Did anyone else have a major Supernatural moment with the lights flickering in the hospital? All the EMF references, actually. Where are some Winchesters when you need them? I now really want that crossover, by the by. *eyes flist*
Gwen was lovely in this episode, they really showed just what she's good at here. And even a couple of nice one-liners! Poor Beth, who really was a great one-off character, I liked her a lot.
Yay for Tosh, who looking seriously hot stuff and was even allowed some personality, hoorah! I can't wait for moar Tosh next week, that should be awesome. Oh, and there is going to be that Owen/Tosh/Ianto out there, yes?
But gosh, Ianto 2.0 is quite something, isn't he? I think I need a couple more episodes to quite work out where he's at now, but seeing him happy is a glorious thing.

Oh yes! That's totally it. I LOVE THEM ALL SO HARD RIGHT NOW.

Aren't they the best? I love it, because I want to watch this show and kinda (well, ok, a lot) want to actually be a member of Torchwood, hee. Still, Ianto's little missions are an admirable substitute!

2. It is awfully nice that the team is largely happy! However, I wonder how long this will last, too!
3. I sort of shipped G/O too in the ep. 4-7 range too (in spite of really liking Rhys a whole lot, which is I think the dynamic the writers were going for... sympathy towards all). It was quite nice to see them working nicely. They seem to have worked out their little issues!
4. Next week... can't wait!

2. I hope that even if there is angst there'll be a more togethery feel to keep them from collapsing, you know?
3. Yes, yes that's exactly how I felt as well. And then they jointly managed to turn me right off, heh.
4. Eeee! :D

But yeah, they really do have that friendly vibe about them now - Owen conning Gwen into paying her own coffee, Ianto joking about the mind probe AND Jack's manners in bed and all that jazz - me likes. Quite a lot.
I am SO SO excited for Tosh's new boyfriend though. The whole episode, actually, looks sort of amazing. Here's hoping. *crosses fingers*

Here's hoping indeed! They're good with wars and time shifts and things, though, so I think we won't be disappointed. Yay!

Oh!Ianto! His snark and suit, and just oh! I like this new Ianto, past the mourning stage and into the having a bit of fun bit. It'll all come crashing down, because as you say this is Torchwood, but it's nice to see even for a little bit.
And yes, omg with the hott Tosh! I like the high waisted skirt and heels combo. V. Sexy and I'm glad to see that she'll get a Tosh Episode next week. Though, I would have liked it if they'd followed through the Tosh as a lesbian storyline. Perhaps later on.

It is, and now we actually get contrast rather than unremitting woe, hurrah.
Mmm, yes yes. And I'm sure that'll come back, but I'm glad that it looks like she's getting some action in any case!

* Yes, Ianto. Hm. I hope they are not turning him into a comic relief character. He had nine (yes, I counted them) funny oneliners in this episode. Mind you, I didn't like him all wangsty as in Cyberwoman wangsty and he cracks me up every time, but I don't want to see him turn Gimli in LOTR2 and 3, if you know what I mean.
* Tosh looked fantastic. That pencil skirt! The slightly pink shirt! You've got to have virtually no hips to pull that off, but somehow she pulls it off anyway.
* Loved Gwen, still confused about the Jack/Gwen plotline that seems to come out of nowhere, though. Or was I blind during the first series?
* And you're absolutely right about the "things can't stay quiet and peaceful forever at Torchwood". Imagine Ianto and Gwen having a cat fight over Jack, who will win?
