Am I first on my friendslist with this? Possibly.

A spoilery picture for the new series of Doctor Who cropped up on t'internet last night, as mentioned by a few people. Said spoiler revealed by photo has just been announced on the BBC website here, so chances are if you want to avoid it you're not going to be able to.

Cut time now! In which I have vague thoughts on said spoiler, but am mostly horrendously gleeful about the oncoming storm of wank that is about to ensue. Oh, and I also mention another spoiler I've seen around, of a similar kind of ilk I suppose.

Rose! Three episodes! Holy batmobile!

Not sure what I think yet, because I am terribly curious about how exactly they're bringing her back - presumably she must be coming back to this world if she's going to be in it for that long. Hmmmm. I shall be in the 'wait and see' camp, I think, because as a definite Rose fan I can see lots of ways where it would be awesome. I have faith, anyway.

But three episodes! Sheesh. And Jack's back as well, right? I have a feeling this next series is going to be possibly even more cracked out than ever. Let's hope they're stocking the good kind in the BBC studios!

Hee, I am refreshing fandom_wank and waiting with glee for the batshit to kick off. It's going to be awesome. Oh, and there also clearly needs to be lots and lots of fic whereby this multitude of companions a) gang up on the Doctor, and b) have lots of sex without him. I'll be working on that, and you should be too.

I am - er, less than thrilled. I didn't care for Rose in S2, and I am very worried they're going to marginalize Donna and/or Martha in favor of Rose. Because, seriously, hitting us over the head with Rose Tyler is the Specialest Companion Evar? Not good.

I'd love to see Rose kick ass, in a relationship, not in love with the Doctor and happy with her life. Unfortunately, I don't think that will happen.

Watch a few early Five episodes with a traveling fair of companions. It's not exactly pretty.

This does make the tabloid rumors of Every Companion Ever in the season finale seem a bit more likely, though.

Yeah, I am a bit worried about that as well, but I'm hoping that it will be the latter! I certainly think she'll be kicking ass, and probably doing something cool in alt!world, but we shall see. I would really like to know where in the series she's showing up now, I'm so intrigued.

I think the reason that Rose IS so special is because she's special to the viewers, if that makes sense. For a lot of the people who've only seen the new series, Rose is their introduction into the Doctor's world. We're experiencing the sense of discovery right along with her, and I think that as a result, she's a pretty popular character (except on the Internet, I think hahah). She's special to the Doctor because she was the first person the Doctor got attached to after the Time War. So yeah, I think Rose is kind of special. She's not super magical or unique, but the circumstances of her stay with the Doctor make her special.

I have confidence that Rose will be kickass, and she can still be in love with the Doctor.. :D I mean that's what she spent all of season 2 doing. Also, I want some delicious, delicious angst.

Yes, that's true. Still, Doctor Who's specialty has always been change. They managed to change Doctors without undercutting either Nine or Ten; unfortunately, they didn't manage that with Ten and Martha.

As for Jack well... hmmm not sure how I feel on that. I kinda want to keep him in Torchwood. He needs to break free of the Doctor.

I know, I'm really wondering how they're going to pull it off.

Oh man, I'm super excited about Jack, though - I'm sure he'll stay in Torchwood, but I'd find it weirder if he didn't ever cross over and help the Doctor save the world a bit, too!

Rose!!!! I love Rose! I saw this last night when it was still just a rumor, but now that we have official confirmation from the BBC I am squee-ing like there's not tomorrow. Rose, Jack AND the Doctor all in the same episode! We'd better get some kickass reunion scenes. And Rose had better come back and show Martha how it's done. haha.

Also, I think Donna will actually make a pretty good companion. (Better than Martha at anyrate, IMO.) I'm so excited for next series. Is it April yet?

I've no idea if that's when Jack will be around or not, but I'm super excited for whenever he does come back.

Haha. I wrote a very long tl;dr in my journal today about why I prefer Rose to Martha. It's really more the writer's fault than anything, but with the way they ended the third series, Martha finally has a chance to grow out of the unrequited love crap.

This shall be very interesting indeed. :-D

This is like the best thing ever. Rose and Jack and the Doctor in an ep again makes me happier than I can say, but above and beyond that, so much glorious wank will ensue. Excuse me while I load up with popcorn.

I hope all three of them are there at the same time, I'm not sure on that yet!
