shiny happy fannish things!

My flist is a-buzz with Doctor Who squee, which is happy-making. It was initially a little weird to see my name all over fandom (for all that Amy's a common girl's name, you don't actually see it that much in fiction), but I am growing used to it and am very excited about the advent of Eleven and Amy Pond.

Also, casting spoiler -

River Song is coming back, I am told! (Does anyone actually have links to the filming pictures?) \o/! Oh Moffat, I have put quite a lot of hope and enthusiasm into your show just now. Don't let me down!

New Leverage was lovely! omg, they are all so adorable. <3 They have been infected with good deeds! Parker stole things and put them back again! Hardison hacked the White House email! Yaaaay.

I have been rewatching the first season and it takes away all my sadness and fills my heart with gladness. :D If anyone has been wondering whether or not they want a show in their lives that features hot, dorky thieves who do crime for great justice, I can assure you that you do.

I have been remixed!

Ceremony or no, they didn’t get the Ministry’s seal of approval, couldn’t make medical decisions for each other, or inherit belongings, or adopt kids. It didn’t matter how they felt about each other. Same-sex couples weren’t entitled to that.

This is really very good, and very interesting as a remix - it's taken the dialogue from the original story and made the internal motivation of the characters and their interaction very different. It's sharp and aching and I like it a lot.

And finally, I have been talking to a couple of flisters, and would any London-ish HP fen like to go see HBP this Sunday? Drop me a comment if you're interested and we can get a meet-up together.

See over here at http://community.livejournal.com/ohnotheydidnt/37378182.html

It sure looks like River Song, or at least the same actress.

I'm not sold on Eleven's costuming, based on these pics. Bow tie? Really? But I'm willing to cut him slack until I actually see him in an episode wearing it. I was dubious about Ten's fashion sense at first too, after the leather jacket-clad hotness that was Nine.

I have a major crush on Amy Pond (and, er, Karen Gillan too, obv...). She is GORGEOUS!

I'd avoided that spoiler, but am not bothered by seeing what it is now -- because you know, I'd kind of assumed she had to be coming back, possibly on a regular basis, just for the setup in last season's two-parter to make any kind of sense. (Mind you, I thought the same about the QE1 setup in 'The Shakespeare Code' ...)

And yes, I'm around this Sunday, as you know.

Time -- either afternoon or evening is fine (provided it allows recovery time after any possible, er, alcoholic endeavours the night before). Place -- somewhere easily accessible by Tube, ideally -- worth checking which lines are closed for upgrades this weekend. Also, I believe there are a few cinemas doing adults-only screenings, and while I don't want to sound too curmudgeonly the absence of screaming kids might not be a bad thing ...

Do you think it'll still be necessary to book the tickets in advance? Probably worth doing anyway just to be on the safe side.

I want to go see HBP with you, A! Perhaps a portkey could be arranged?

Glad to see you having some fannish joy again, sweetie. M.

I SO EXCITED. :D I still, however, haven't worked up the courage to watch Ten's last specials (I haven't seen the Easter one! It's on BBC America this Sunday, though, so hell I might as well)--I'm really going to miss him. He was my Doctor, you know?

But I cannot help but be excited about MOFFAT. OH MOFFAT.

OMG, oh oh oh, I already have plans for Saturday night that make getting to London for Sunday difficult. But I want to! Maybe I will have to track you down in October, instead.

Yay Moffat.

Maybe!
Actually, yes! Certainly by 14.03, but probably actually earlier than that. The trains run all day, although it takes two hours.

Leverage is totally lovely. I find it's very good for chasing away the blues. :D

I'm so excited about the whole new new doctor and new new new new companion thing! Karen Gillan looks as cute as a button in the photos from the set, and I find myself facing the horrifying fact that I sort of find Matt Smith attractive. The tweed! The bow tie! The suspenders!

*is disturbed*

I am mostly just FULL OF EXCITEMENT for the new season. Esp. since Matt Smith seems to totally be able to pull off the tweed-plus-skinny-jeans look. :D
