How can there be that much awesome on the screen at the same time? Aren't there laws about that? Actually, I think the person I'm most excited about is MICKEY, because I really wasn't sure if the rumours about him and Jackie coming over were true, and LOOK THEY ARE. Yaaaaaay!!!

My squee about this finale, it is already pretty much unharshable. :D :D :D

son of eta: so, I may have been examining this a fair bit now. Some thoughts!

1. Sarah Jane is rocking the long boots and waistcoat look.
2. Jackie's expression of terror is quite hilarious, oh, Tyler clan how I have missed thee!
3. Glad to see Martha's got her special world-saving outfit out for the occassion.
4. So has Mickey.
5. When I say I am not having a crazy shipper moment over the Doctor's hand on Jack's shoulder, I mean that in the way that I completely am, um. I have no shame. As you were.

True, though I'm going to be sad to miss the initial squeeing and general insanity. Of course, the Doctor Who fandom often depresses me with how critical people are just to have an opinion and be important, but if I ignore who_daily, everything's generally lovely. I heart my f-list.

This picture fills me with so mcuh YOU HAVE GOT TO BE KIDDING ME! Ok, yeah I am sure everyone is happy, except me. I do not want Season 1 again, or season 2. I want season 4. I want new stuff. I do not want all old companions we saw these past 3 seasons back. no no no. I want a new season with new ideas, not 'lets bring all the safe old people back because we can't think of anything better!!'

Though I will say for this picture alone I like the levels they have going and how the doctor is highest (Jack having to be the bent down one so his head is not above the Doctor's) And I like how the solid women and the doctor are in brown, the two black people are in black, and then the heroic types from season 1 are in blue... and er purple/gray... you know what i mean hee

Fair enough - obviously we disagree. I think this whole season's been filled with pretty new stuff, and for finales in any show I always think it makes sense and is a lot of fun to get characters back in again. In this instance, I am admittedly not thrilled thus far that it's the Daleks back again (though we'll see how that goes), but having lots of characters around? To me that's not safe and old at all, that's epic and very cool! And also, I suspect it's set up for casting changes come the specials and season 5, but we shall see.

I do like some of our old cast members and it is probably going to be pretty epic, despite daleks AGAIN. However, I hate the whole proving the impossible possible thing with bringing Rose back from the parallel dimension. Can't things that we say are impossible ever just be impossible? I suppose its sci-fi and we like to have the hopeful message of 'anything is possible' but it just makes me pull my hair.

Though in all fairness I have not watched last week's episode yet so I may be behind on some big info and such.

Oh on that score I'm definitely with you - they knew they were bringing Rose back, so it does kind of seem to undermine the end of 'Doomsday' a bit. And Who in general is really bad for the 'but that's impossible!' shtick, it's a bad writing habit. There wasn't much in last week's episode, but the trailer suggests the whole parallel universe story arc is making a comeback, so that might be interesting.

Half the people in that photo are over the age of forty. That is awesome.
Although I am disappointed that none of the (five yay!) women has short hair.

I've been trying to stay away from this promo picture post because I'm frantic about staying spoiler-free. However, after seeing last night's episode I want to know EVERYTHING so I immediately came back to watch the picture.

First thoughts: WOW. With this team, how can you not save the universe, right? I have complete confidence.

I love the Tyler clan! Rose and Jackie and Pete (where the hell is he?) and Mickey are the base of my DW love. I'm not too crazy about Sarah Jane though, but let's wait and see how she fulfills her role in the final episodes of KICKING ASS.

Love Jack (in his crouching position) and Martha (so much) and Donna (the most important woman in the whole of creation), as always. But why weren't Gwen and Ianto included in the picture? Very small roles? I bet you Ianto is going to say something incredibly funny!

And I don't know, now, how official/complete this photo is - seeing as we didn't get Mickey in the trailer (sadface) but we did get Gwen and Ianto. I mean, I'm still assuming that all these people are around (and I guess having Mickey and Jackie show up might give the game away a little), and yaaaay! I think Sarah Jane should be good, from the bits I've seen of SJA she's well-versed in the ass-kicking, often with snark to go with it.

YANTOE. I am so excited to hear his lines, for verily they will be win!
