Doctor Who 4x09: Forest of the Dead
Dear Mr Moffat,
I have something for you, you've earned it. Please, treat it well - I fully expect you to break it again, many times over, but as long as you put it back together when you're finished, we're good.

I will freely admit this episode has made me a bit crazy. If I am reading one of your reaction posts and suspect that you don't have as much unbridled joy as me then you'll have to excuse me for backing out again rather rapidly. I am ignoring
who_daily. I don't want to know. I just thought that this episode, this story, managed to go above and beyond what I usually enjoy in the show, because not only did this have all the fantastic character moments I've come to expect from Doctor Who, it also had a plot that was rich, complicated and layered as well as exciting and tense, and I loved every second of it.
The awful, epic tragedy of Donna, wow. The "I'm all right" conversation absolutely killed me. River's complete win and heroism and conviction, and then the Doctor knew he had to have saved her (there's a possibility I forgot to breathe during that bit). The way the Vashta Nerada were given a voice, a purpose. Everybody lived. I really, really can't wax lyrically enough about how much I adored this, and can't wait to watch and rewatch it.
eta: oh, and if you haven't listened to it, I highly recommend the commentary for this one - RTD, the Moff, and Tennant geek out about the show old and new and giggle a lot, it's hilarious. Spoilers for the episode, obviously, but it's often not really on topic. Download it here.

I've seen such negativity on my friends list, and it's been a downer, so it's nice to see someone who loved it. :) I'm not sure my joy reaches yours, but there was definitely good feeling there.

...and what about

No, just links to lots of reaction posts, so you get more of a sense of fandom's opinions as a whole, and all the negativity in some parts saddens me.
