Top 10 signs you're reading a fic by
such_heights:
10. Mostly speaking, it'll start a way into a scene, with exposition in subsequent paragraphs.
9. Life is tricky - growing up is scary, or circumstances are not ideal. But strength of personality or a belief in something good sees my characters through.
8. There's little descriptive passages telling you just what everyone's doing in a scene at a given moment.
7. Just about everyone smiles a lot. It might be forced or fake or wan, but they try just the same.
6. Friendship is hugely important, and might just be found in an unlikely place.
5. The overall mythology of the universe is important, and often used - whether magic or time travel or the apocalypse, and the particular canon's beliefs on the afterlife may well crop up.
4. The story's filling in some kind of missing scene, something implied by canon but not directly seen, and everything's part of a wider story, whether through side references, flashbacks, or an ending that looks forward.
3. Most people seem to have a predilection towards being a little bit queer.
2. Characters' memories shape their experiences of the present to a great degree.
1. And most crucially of all, everything's not lost.
*yawn* Time for coffee and more exchange fic writing, now.

Heh.

These two are the ones that I would have come up with you for you. I love your friendship fic--the fact that your characters try so hard and genuinely like one another.
3. Most people seem to have a predilection towards being a little bit queer.
How could I forget this one? *smile* Excellent point.
Enjoyed! Maggie
