And now, once again archived here for posterity, a ficlet I wrote for
“Sirius, that really is the tackiest card I have seen in my entire life.”
“… Really?”
“There’s a shop emblazoned with ‘Nautical Shoppe’. You can’t be thinking of sending this.”
“But I’ve already written it!”
“Oh.”
“C’mon, she’s a girl, girls love stuff like this – trust me about these things, Moony!”
“There are elves on a sled.”
“And charming they are too!”
“I-- wait. Oh God. Sirius, have you written all the cards?”
“Um, yes?”
“And they’re all like this?”
“Well… I couldn’t find any other ones!”
“No, you’re right, they’re cunningly disguised within the box in the study marked ‘Christmas Cards’. Very deceitful.”
“You wound me, Lupin. Look, these are charity cards, alright? See on the back there – it’s all for some Muggle charity that helps kids.”
“Oh, don’t pull the charity thing on me. Alright, fine then, we’ll just have to send these ones. Have you done the recordings yet?”
“No.”
“I give thanks for small mercies. Right then. Where’s my wand- ah, here we go. Ahem.
My dearest Yvonne. Wishing you the most felicitous seasonal period, and may all the blessings of the world accompany you in the New Year.
… Sirius? Why are you laughing? It wasn’t meant to be funny!”
“Moony, Moony, Moony. Remind me never to let you out of the house. Have you been lying to me all this time, and are you in fact a million years old?”
“How on earth did you guess.”
“Amazing powers of perception, me. Now, let me record something sensible, honestly!
Dear Yvonne. Merry Christmas! Hope you have a bloody brilliant holiday, and a truly magnificent New Year. Try not to eat too many mince pies, tempting though I know that is! Lots of love, Messrs. Moony & Padfoot.
There we go, much better.”
“Fine, have it your way.”
“You’re completely ridiculous, you know.”
“Suppose I am, really. Sirius? Sirius, what are you doing? Oh, oh I see. Oh.”

That's probably just about it from me this year - I'd like to do a multi-fandom Christmas/New Year thing, but we'll see whether that happens or not.

PS: Also, did I have a special moment when writing your card and address it to your surname rather than your first name? I rather think I did! *headdesk*

I was a bit confused, but then I received another Xmas card from the UK, and this person did the same thing...
So I thought it had something to do with the, let's say... British language? *blushes in shame*

you can pretend you're in a fifties British boarding school
What about the 70's in Scotland at the H****** school with two nice blokes, then? *hint hint*
