Month of Awesome Women: Guinevere (Merlin)
"This is my home and you are a guest in it! I know you are used to more luxurious quarters but that is not an excuse to be so rude! You claim titles don't matter to you but you behave like a prince and expect me to wait on you like a servant! Saying it means nothing if your actions betray you! Would it kill you to say 'Please' and 'Thank you' once in a while? ... My Lord."
Guinevere

GUINEVERRRRE. Champion of fairness and justice, devoted friend, future queen, and all that is right in this world. I LOVE HER A LOT. She's also the only sensible person in Camelot, most of the time!
Gwen represents the ordinary people of the show. She has no magical powers and no special status save the somewhat precarious affections of the Pendragon household. She's suffered enormously at Uther's hands, and unlike Merlin has very little power to subvert or challenge that regime. She manages that position with a grace and hopefulness that is seriously impressive, using the influence that she has to try and secure a better tomorrow in Arthur.
That hope gives her extraordinary courage, whether it's agreeing to Merlin's half-baked plans, standing up to Uther when he's threatening to execute her, playing the long game with Morgana, doing some seriously badass blacksmith work or trying to solve every dangerous situation she winds up in her own so as not to put her friends in danger. She's also pretty handy with a sword and will take a guy out with a stick and steal his weapon to fight off brigands attacking a village but, you know, whatever.
She also has chemistry with everyone, looks gorgeous in red cloaks and frilly dresses, and wears flowers in her hair. BEST. My once and future queen, always.
