Election Night
Okay, here we go! Who else is staying up to watch the UK general election? Exit polls look worrying and suggest another Conservative government is likely, but it's not over yet, and in the meantime I'm looking forward to hearing from Sheffield Hallam and South Thanet, and the fates of Nick Clegg and Nigel Farage especially.
Here's the BBC livetext feed.
eta: tumblr is bringing the lulz in this time of strife, reblogging the good stuff.
eta2: welp, it's 3am, the Lib Dems are being annihilated, Labour are underperforming, meanwhile Scotland have collectively decided 'fuck this shit' and are doing the electoral equivalent of sawing through the boundary and setting out to sea, not that I blame them. *starts drinking*

I'm not sure I can stomach staying up for a rerun of 1992 -- i.e. results showing that people had apparently been claiming not to be voting Tory in polls, and then furtively doing so. Of course, six months afterwards buyers remorse started to hit, but we were stuck with them until 1997.
Labour strategy has been utterly idiotic in buying into all the Tory narratives. FOR THE LAST FIVE FREAKING YEARS. They've missed so many open goals it's not even funny.

So in addition to more cuts followed by an easing up nearer 2020, we can look forward to quitting the EU, Scotland breaking away, and the fanned flames of the undercurrent of English xenophobia possibly turning into something nasty. It's easy to see this country sleepwalking into something really nasty.
So yeah, let's hope Labour get their shit together.

WHY DIDN'T WE LEG IT WHEN WE HAD THE CHANCE?
Dear Labour Party,
If you hadn't given Scotland up as a lost cause, and played right into fearmongering Tory hands about Scotland and the SNP this wouldn't be happening.
Right, I'm going to bed, wake me up in 2020.
