So Darvill & Gillan have been tweeting today re. s7 casting spoilers (of the kind long-since announced by the BBC) and I have feelings.

... I can't. I am just really, really sad, and it's not like the Ponds' final episodes have even started airing yet. But both Karen & Arthur and Amy & Rory have added so much to my pile of good things, and I suppose I won't ever be ready to say goodbye. I don't want them to go, and understanding this to be an intrinsic part of the way Doctor Who works doesn't help much. I look forward to Karen and Arthur's future careers, I can't wait to fall in love with the new companion, but. But. :(

Yeah, I just ... I don't know how to express all of my emotions. I've been feeling bogged down by this news all day. D= MY BBs. Companion departures always tear at my soul, but this one is going to be the absolute. worst. No question. I imagine it has something to do with having spent so much time with them (not only because of their extended stay, but because series six was the first time I watched live rather than marathoning in a matter of days, so I spent MONTHS with (a) companion(s) for the first time, y' know?), as well as how there's this great family dynamic that we never had before, and knowing that we're going to lose that.... And, of course, I love these losers to peaces and I know how close they are, and this time I'm HERE for the departure. It's not a thing of the past that happened several years ago.

What's keeping me going right now is the thought that Karen and the Babes'll probably reunite to hang out randomly, and we'll get pictures and tweets that'll come out of nowhere and be utterly delightful. I refuse to believe otherwise.

And it doesn't help that Eleven is my first Doctor, and the Ponds are my first companions, and even though I'm watching older stuff now and I know intellectually that I will totally dig the new companion -- and in fact will eventually most likely totally dig the new Doctor, PLEASE NO TIME SOON, UNIVERSE -- I still feel like, how can anything ever be this good, ever again? :-/

We will just have to continue writing all the fic.
