Oh dear, your comment really scared me for a second! *phew*

As far I can tell, Merlin ethics go like this: If anyone magical tries to exact revenge on the people who murdered their family members, you should kill them. In fact, any attempted murder at all should be punished by death, even if you could summon all the knights of Camelot to arrest Valiant/just maybe find some kind of stunning spell rather than blowing Sophia and her dad to pieces. If a deal you freely make actually kills someone who freely volunteers himself, you should absolutely kill the person who agreed to the deal in the first place (she deserved it).

Basically, as long as you're a good guy, killing is awesome. Except if you want to kill Uther, tyrant and executor of innocents and children. That would just be Wrong.
