Doctor Who 5x05

Wow! That was something!

Plot things I loved:

+ ROBOT FOREST OMG THAT IS SO AWESOME.

+ The whole concept of Amy turning into an angel and having to shut her eyes and walk through a forest and the GENERAL TERRIFYINGNESS.

+ The fact that this actually was the Crash of the Byzantium as per Silence in the Library. (Yes, I'm slow.)

+ The cracks in time theme being noticed and developed this early on.

And some other stuff, probably, but moving on!

RIVER SONG OMG

+ She is so completely awesome and hot and mysterious and eeeee I love her.

+ Given that it's been really obviously hinted that at some point she kills the Doctor, and given that I'm sure most people are assuming it's for a Good Reason of some kind, I am very much hoping that it is more complicated than that. Or that, if it isn't, that's not really the point. But OOOH. How exciting.

+ In the Confidential, Moffat talked about how we're going to see how the whole story plays out. a;lskdjas \o/ I am hoping that means not just this season! Recurring characters ftw, especially River-shaped ones.

AMY POND OMG

+ Amyyyyy! I am glad River was around to provide cuddles and arm-stroking.

+ She is so smart and intuitive and great, and keeps asking questions and not letting the Doctor bullshit her. <3

+ She's a time traveller now! Time travellers are special! Squee!

THAT END SCENE OMG

+ Rationally, I am worried about how this will pan out, for Amy's character arc. Worried, but not yet despondent. Do it right, Moffat!

+ I'm glad it's not being played as total unrequited tragic love omg. I also completely and totally buy that Amy would have the hots for the Doctor, especially given the second two-year gap in The Eleventh Hour. We know she's impulsive, we know she has her doubts about getting married, we know she's just been through something really horrendous, etc.

+ All of which I say because I can see the wank forming right now, to which my cultivated and intellectual response will be 'lol shut up, Amy Pond > you'.

+ All the above aside, my lizard brain demands HOT ELEVEN/AMY/RIVER OT3 FIC RIGHT NOW. So someone should get on that for me.

THERE ARE NOT WORDS FOR HOW MUCH I LOVE RIVER AND AMY.

River is just made of awesome and kickass and sneaky and I love her for it. I'm so curious as to the whole 'kills the Doctor' thing is played out, and what it means, and oh I just cannot wait!

As for the end scene. I totally love that Amy gets to be a character who wants to have sex, and doesn't see it as some big falling in love fandango, but that she has the hots for the Doctor (hell, even I kind of have the hots for the Doctor) and she's unsure about getting married and she's just survived something absolutely terrifying.

WHY IS NEXT SATURDAY SO FAR AWAY?

I was so cheering for Amy in that last scene. GO AMY. HE'S HOT, YOU'RE HOT, YOU JUST SURVIVED A SCARY EXPERIENCE, HAVE FUN! \o/ I don't know where it'll end up, but I do love how it's playing right now. The chemistry they have together is OFF THE CHARTS.

And the preview for next week makes me LOL so much.

Quoted all of it because THIS THIS THIS. Let's face it. Amy is a fangirl. If I were Amy? I would want to sleep with Eleven. Straight up, and I read it at the end as "sexually liberated" not "broken and needy" and that was AWESOME. If it stays that way - and oooh, hot - I will be happy. It feels like a totally, completely different dynamic from Ten/Rose, and I am actually quite excited to watch Eleven try to put off Amy's advances in the awesome and hilarious way he was at the end of that episode.

3 - Didn't even think of Crash of the Byzantium as per Silence in the Library so you beat me!

4 - Does make sense for Amy to have Doctor hots and just be all 'Let's shag!' and makes total sense for the Doctor not to get it until she jumps on him. LOL But still makes me all baaaah for yet another companion in the trend of New!Who falling for The Doctor. Though I do think that she's going to end up not wanting to shag him or love him or what have you.

5 - And yes the wank, especially from the Rose lovers. But seriously, Amy = win all

I found the scene mostly funny, in an awkward sort of way, although it hit my embarassment squick at the same time. However, I'm a bit concerned that it might turn into pining later on or that Amy will be needlessly cruel to Rory. (Okay, we don't know whether they have an open relationship, but Amy's still engaged. Even if she might be getting cold feet by now. :D)
