Cardathon Ficbits

First, see my last post for new and additional flail, for post arrived for me today from my wonderful sender, [livejournal.com profile] morebliss, to accompany the emails of Thursday. I am all a-squee!

I was assigned [livejournal.com profile] opheliet, who listed James/Lily and Remus/Sirius in her requests, so I thought I'd do both! You can see her post, with pictures and such, here, but now I shall rework those into a more digital form.

Yours
James/Lily, Remus/Sirius, PG
Love sent and received. 14th February, 1980.

(Finally, a tasteful card - aren't you proud? I freely confess Remus helped me, though. The question is, how worried should I be about that?)

My dearest Lily,

I don't know what I'd do if I didn't have you in my life. You're brave and smart and beautiful - I'm lucky just to know you. Thank you for everything that you do. I can't wait to meet our child, and start sharing our life with them.

Hopelessly, always yours,
James

7th February

Dear Sirius,
Hope your trip went well. I'm probably going to be away when you get back, I'm afraid. Not sure how long I'll be, don't think there'll be owls around. Sorry.

There's some shepherd's pie in the fridge - Lily brought it over, doesn't seem to think I can look after myself. Am I really that bad a cook? I know there was that one time with the food poisoning, but that was ages ago! Anyway, it's very nice. So enjoy. Plenty of beer left too - well, unless I decide to drink it all tonight so I can finally get some sleep. Stupid dormitory mentality, I still don't sleep very much when you're not around.

Steve dropped round the other day- some hideously technical motorbike question for you, I can't begin to remember. I said you'd Floo him when you get back, so don't forget. I take it you heard about the Prewetts. If you're home in time for the funeral, please send my condolences. I wish I could be there.

I really hope you're all right - can't you get in touch somehow? Sorry, that's not helpful, I know.

I'm quite looking forward to going away, I suppose - I'll be with Frank, anyway, so that should be nice. I'm sure I'll hear lots about their upcoming offspring! By the way, Lily is positively glowing now, it's pretty amazing.

May I be horribly sentimental for a moment? I know you think Valentine's Day is a capitalist exploitation of conventional values, and I do agree with you. Only, it's late, and I miss you so much it's embarrassing, and by the time the 14th rolls around I won't have seen you in bloody ages, so I don't care.

Happy Valentine's Day. Go and celebrate it by trying to disrupt James' romantic plans if you like, but all the same.

I love you.

See you soon,
Remus.

Wasn't this fun? Loved the throw-away line about the Prewetts--or, rather, was disturbed by it, but appreciate the way it was done. Enjoyed! M.

Aw, I love those! James's is so...James. *g* And the casualness of Remus's letter is quite nice. :)

These were lovely. :)

These are wonderful. I love James' simple, to the point message and, in contrast that Remus rambles about for sentences, crosses out what he really means, and throws in his upcoming trip AND asks permission before he gets to the point. Loved that!

Oh, this is lovely – and tasteful! I can hardly ever make myself interested in anything related to Valentine’s day, and I seldom regard letter fic as convincing or interesting (as any proper stories), but I’m so glad I gave a chance to this work.

Of course, I’m particularly interested in Remus’s letter, and I’m surprised how perfectly real it looks. It’s wonderfully casual, almost simple on some level. Still, it conveys various emotions and refers to various aspects of life, its intimate and wider context, and contacts with other people, so it builds up an illusion of a whole life, a whole world around this message.

Thank you so much for sharing.

Am a bit braindead, but this made me smile :). James to a t, and the Remus letter is lovely.

Now I feel all sappy. ;)

*GLOMPS*

There. Much better. :D I just have to say you are absolutely amazing for these. You just cannot imagine the expression on my face when I pulled these out of my mailbox and ran back to the house so I could read them. I've been waving them around telling people how I got the best Valentines.

And and and I love the hints of angst and lonely Remus and look-I-got-a-good-card James and just all of it! *squee*

If you can't tell, I really liked them. >.< *bows down*
